Opfor Convoy not moving with lead.
Hi there guys. Well I'm running into some issues with getting a convoy to follow the group lead. This is what I have done.

Created a convoy with iof tanks AAA cars manned by the crew. I think selected all except the lead car and did a "Group To" and then linked the convoy to the lead truck. The lead truck is now the group lead and all the light blue lines are following back to all of the other units.

I then doubled clicked on the group icon so all is selected and set 'open fire, keep formation' 'safe' tried 'column and file' 'normal speed' 'enabled and disabled dynamic simulation for all units' 'Object States: Default' 'enable dynamic simulation ckecked and unchecked' 'show model checked' 'enable damage checked'.

The first vehicle goes but the rest just sits there. I know it's probably something simple but my slow old brain can't figure it out lol. So if anybody out there has an idea I will be glad to try. :) Thanks!

To avoid any bugs proceed to this step:

1- Place all vehicles and crew members.

2- Select all vehicles with crew members, and group them to the first vehicle driver.

3-Click on the "group icon" to set the formation, behavior..........

It should work i guess...

I redid it and followed your steps and nothing the lead does go but the rest just sits there. I can see that in the vehicle ahead of me that was sitting the front tires were turning but no acceleration.

I do have choppers in the air already to provide escort I don't know if that matters.

When you "redid it", did you completely delete your convoy and remade it ? if no, delete it, and restart the building of the convoy.

What your choppers do ? Are the ygrouped to the convoy ?

I just made a convoy with a copter in the air grouped to the convoy. There is no problem, although with a copter is not really nice for the animation of the convoy.

Ya no I didn't delete it but I will now. And yes there are 4 choppers overhead staggered within the group.

Ok, you must delete it. I know sometime there are bugs when making convoy because last month i got the same bug as you when i modified my convoy.

Yup I deleted and placed all the vehicles down and I started with the second one and grouped it to the lead then I went to the next did the same thing to them all. Before I did a 'top down' view of them and selected them all then tried to group to lead. As soon as I right click to get 'group to" the selection would clear lol I didn't get much sleep last night and didn't notice.

Well I get them going now and set out my waypoints. Now I have the issue with vehicles going to fast and hitting the next one. I have the group speed to normal. Should it be on limited?

Also so I need to check "enable dynamic simulation"? Still trying to figure out what really that is lol

When setting "Group icon" all you need to do is:

-Formation file (i guess its called file, my game is french)
-Speed Normal
-Fire = up to you
-Behavior Safe

Dont touch the "enable dynamic simulation"


About your car hitting each other, when i tried your convoy i noticed the copters struggle with the animation. The tanks are not very fast compare to other motorised vehicles. So maybe you have to sacrifice the copters. If the vehicle hit each other tried to leave more space between them when you place them.


For the copters case, well maybe i can give you ideas. For example make them interven if ever the convoy get attacked. For that you need to do is:


1-Of course separate your copters to the convoy, put them on ground at a base. Creat first waypoint (Scripted waypoint) near them on a ground it doesnt matter. Then next waypoint is "Support" or "sentinel"....... to the convoy vehicle.

2-Put a big area trigger on the Area of the mission and set: Type=> Ignore Waypoint
Activation => Your faction/or player Detection=> ennemy faction

And set the countdown to delay the depature of the copter for more realist.

3-Link the trigger to the "copters scripted waypoint" with "Chose activation waypoint (sry my game is french)"


I guess its all you need to do. When convoy get attacked, is like the convoy send a Alert to the base, and the base will send some copters to provide help.

OH awesome man thanks for the info ya I separated the choppers from the convoy and put them on a patrol around the convoy seems to be working fine. Thanks you guys been tons of help!

It may be in 3den enhanced mod but you can specify the exact speed of each vehicle in your convoy.
