Arma 3

Cannot host a server at all [SOLVED]
EDIT: FIXED MY OWN ISSUE

The issue lies in the fact that Arma 3, because it is a very well designed game with a modern netcode, does not support IPv6 masking of any kind, including forwarding through it. Here's what you need to do:

1. Disable ALL mods. No, seriously, ALL mods. Arma 3 listen servers DO NOT WORK with mods. We have tested this with ACE and it did not work.

2. Once you have done this, make sure ports 2302 through 2306 are open on your router as UDP, and you have UPnP enabled.

3. DISABLE BATTLEYE. If you will be playing with friends, co-operatively, and hosting, you (hopefully) won't need it, and it WILL brick the listen server's connection.

5. Host a server with the UPnP option ticked. Have your friends then find your server via the direct IP connect in the server browser.

And that should work. Joining through Steam will not work as Steam will attempt to go through IPv6 and Arma does not know how to cope with this.

As title suggests, we're trying to host a server privately for the four of us. I forwarded the correct ports and set up UPnP just fine. There's no issues with any of that. We have made sure that we are using the same DLC - which is Prairie Fire and then nothing at all, for the second time, other than the base game - and every time, the outcome is the same.

Ports 2302 and 2303 are forwarded and open. UPnP is open. BattlEye ports are open as required, under a separate instance in my router. We have checked our .rpt files in the %appdata% folder mutually, and have found nothing. There isn't even an error listed in the log files at all.

We can't find anything else which could be the root cause. Nothing rational is cropping up and we're at a loss. This is universal, too. No matter who is hosting, the outcome is the same.

I've downloaded the dedicated server utility for Arma, too. However, seeing as it is a steam application, running it simultaneously with Arma 3 causes a Steam ID mismatch with both applications and simply bricks Arma 3.

Is there anything that can be done?

you sure that its mods breaking the listen server and not the ds-lite tunnel? even if it would work, playing without mods is like oral morphene usage

We tried it on a multitude of different platforms and with a number of different servers, and as far as we can tell, listen servers just do not support any mods at all. Even running the furniture script, which isn't even a mod, caused massive issues and prevented people from connecting.

And yeah, yeah it is. Vanilla Arma 3 is an exercise in masochism.
