FaceTrackNoIR- Free Headtracking Solution

This is a good device if the TrackIR costs just a bit too much for you. Its a headtracking solution that uses a standard webcam to track your face, and with a little tomfoolery and such, allows you to utilize Freetrack and TrackIR enabled games' headtracking! Definitely check it out- it's gone through some updates over the years, and it works fantastically now!

Update: This is great, but it does need a good webcam, which I do not have. My low frame-rate is causing motion blur, so it keeps losing my face. :/

Still, if I ever upgrade my webcam (which I might, now that I have a use for it), I'll be sure to try this again.

gday ace mate i have face traker and when i open the programe and start it at all looks fine but how do u get it to work in game

You will be disappointed with this. Just pony up and get a TrackIR. I went through the process of building an LED headset and mods to a webcam and while it worked, the software was flaky and could never get it adjusted well.

It's honestly better to go with the face tracking solution. It works pretty damn well if you have a decent webcam. Personally, I'd rather go for a free solution that works pretty decently. While TrackIR may work better... I personally cannot get behind it due to its very anti-competitive attitude (gathered from what I've looked on the company, NaturalPoint).

By all means go with a system that doesn't work better because of some apparant anti-competitive attitude. WTF does that mean anyways?

The best way is Freetrack with Wii-Remote.
100 fps tracking , and no interference with visible light ( Use official Nintendo Wiimote )

ps3 camera and free track and a delan clip of ebay is all you need works 100% cost me NZ$70 the delan clip came from UK and i got my ps3 camera off tradme (nz version of ebay) followed the video on youtube about taking IR filter out took me about 30mins no need to spend lots of $$ on trackIR and its give u alot of satisfaction to make and get it to work and imerse yourself in the game

I've got the same set up but in Arma 3 I'm getting stutter / jittter which makes the Delanclip and Facetracknoir setup unusable. Anyone else experienced that? Windows 7 64bit

Would you have an idea of whats causing my setup to stutter?

do u use the delanclip and facetracknoir ? i use a delan clip and freetrack 2.2 with a ps3 camera with a floppy disk filter i find i do have to sit quite close for it to be smooth
