Arma 3

Arma 3, low FPS on good PC..
Hello, i know this is little cliché on this thread, but i did not found ansewers in all these posts, so im making my own.

I have question, why im getting like 55 fps in multiplayer (yeah 55 is not bad) but in cities, it drops like to 30 and its pretty annoying. Im playing specially on offical servers without mods, mainly warlods. If can Youtubers and Streamers get 60+ fps on high pop servers with tons of mods with lower specs than me, then why i cant :/. I did everything, unparked cores, pasted start parameters... Still pretty upset about this, bought new cpu specially for Arma.

Thanks in advance :).

Specs:

That motherboard supports DDR4 Memory, up to 4400(OC) MHz.
When you install the proprietary Dragon Center software bundle, you'll get, next to others, a comfortable "Click Bios" and "OC Setting"

You have to set the timings and the frequenzy of the RAM.
Try to find out the manufacturer of your RAM, CPU-Z is a freeware tool for this.
You'll find a download at MSI, too.

It is important if your RAM have a XMP (Extreme Memory Profile).
With that is overclocking simple and safe. Than it is one setting in the BIOS.
(You can still try to use any XMP-profile but without warranty)

If you don't know the manufacturer of your RAM, you can use "Trial and error" to find a stable condition. From there you can still try to overclock.

That before mentioned Software bundle is able to overclock and benchmark your computer. The inbuild fan control protects from overheating. Also, it will help to keep it up to date.

Its just Arma engine my friend, its an engine they have used since the DOS era so it runs like
a s s because it cannot utilise modern hardware.
Seeing 30 odd fps in some MP servers is normal for Arma engine.

:/ Yeah, read quite lot about it.
But why do Youtubers and Streamers got all time 60...
And if not, you think everybody is not playing at 60 all time?
Thanks :)

It really really heavily depends on the server/mission/player count your playing in Multiplayer.
You could join another server with similar mission/player count and it be night and day so to a large degree *your* hardware is taken out of the equation.
Check 'Task manager' when game is running you will see you CPU/GPU having an afternoon Nap 95% of the time hence why i say its not your end.

You could install a mod which will dynamically alter game settings as you play to hit a configurable 'Minimum FPS' you set, it does help a lot on SP missions but problem being most MP servers don't allow the Mod.
Try it yourself for SP because playing some of the 'CTI' game modes for example (game modes i tend to enjoy) when you enter a city and the game spawns in a few dozen defenders and it goes off the mod makes a few tweaks in the background to stop your frames going too low.

Oh so. I will try on single, but i love mp...
I noticed arma use only 30% of my cpu, only heavly 27% of gpu and 9800Mbs of RAM, is there any way to make arma use more?
Thanks :)

Shame the Dev's into fixing their garbage game engine.
Bribe them with Shiny Baubles.
Pray to your Gods to smite them for selling such garbage.

It is why I decided to stop supporting them after the DLC 1 package. I want the DLC 2 package but I don't want Bohemia Interactive to keep getting money until they decide to make an engine fit for this decade. It is such a shame that the game has so much to it and the potential is endless while it does look pretty darn good. Although, since the engine is so old and they haven't put any work into overhauling it or making a new one while they just churn out content I just can't support them anymore and am voting with my wallet.

One of the best games ever.
One of the worst engines ever.

They won't see another cent from me until they release an engine that can utilize modern hardware as it should be able to run smoothly on any decent gaming pc built in the last 5 years if they put some effort into the engine and stopped just churning out DLC after DLC while ignoring elephant in the room.

True, gonna wait for A4....

Yeah i just d*ck about these days in SP CTI game mode, i can deal with drops into the 40's because Gsync kinda makes it still feel smooth but combine the terrible hit reg and net code in MP with the crazy FPS drops where your can literally lose 60%+ of your frames at the drop of a hat it feels like a RNG simulator if you gonna live or die lol.
SP is still a giggle to mess about in though.

Would not drop 1 cent on any DLC until they fix the engine, period.

Engine is just horrible.

I was getting 35-45 fps on standard graphics throughout all of my playtime, sometimes 60fps if I'm lucky. Well that changed last night. I overclocked my CPU just a little bit and the results were absolutely unbelievable (I'm still trying to wrap my head around this).
Since Overclocking my CPU, my games fps is now at 200...... no joke. I went ahead and upped my graphics quality to the max the game allows. 150-200fps.... The game runs as smooth as Counter Strike. I'm blown away

Holy, that sound unbeliveable. From what freq to what freq did you overclocked it?

Next time I open BIOS I'll check. My system has 3 different levels of CPU overclocking, I used the first level just to see how it runs. I've got to say, I don't really understand how any of this works, but my temps are low and my computer isn't screaming, so I'll just assume I'm in the clear.

When I was playing a few minutes ago on a high populated server. I had 170-185 fps throughout. When I got into the large intense firefights i'll have 100-130fps with occasional drops into the 90s (nothing less). PC ran cool the whole time.

If you have the option to OC your CPU, you might want to read into it, then possibly try it out. It's been a miracle for me
