Adjust pose/stance keybinding gone?!

In the controls menu, infantry movement, I am missing the 'adjust' keybinding. When I look at the field manual on adjust pose it says the 'undefined' key. Where has the keybinding gone?

Also, steam did seem to update Arma3 just now, has it something to do with a new update (1.40)?

Nope, nothing changed for me. It isnt a mod problem, I think its a bug in the 1.40 release.

Tiny update: resetting the keybindings to default (any of them) also doesn't rectify this problem.

Go look in your profile .cfg file. Its empty. Put 29 in there for LCTRL.

The related files (configs, savegames, etc) are saved in the user profile "Documents\Arma 3". It is often necessary to enable hidden files in the windows control center (folder options) to see it.

How to fix the missing Stance modifier key

I still see a lot users asking about the broken Stance modifier key with the 1.40 patch. It seems to be missing or unbound for many, and with no way to rebind it in the controls menu. Restoring the game's default binds doesn't fix it either. The solution is to manually edit your settings with a text editor like Notepad.

1. First, locate your Arma 3 user profile file. It should be located in Documents > Arma 3 and reflect your in-game name with an .Arma3Profile extension. For example, mine is Documents\Arma 3\Sapiens.Arma3Profile
   
   
2. Open the .Arma3Profile file with a text editor like Notepad or Wordpad.
   
   
3. Find the line keyAdjust[]={}; and change it to keyAdjust[]={29}; - this is the value for LCtrl.
   
   
4. Save the file and launch the game. You still won't see the bind in the controls menu, but you should be able to adjust your stance again.

I can think of two possible errors:

1. You are editing the wrong config file ("Arma 3" or "Arma 3 - Other Profiles").

2. You have saved the file with the txt-suffix instead the ".Arma3Profile" extension.
You have to use quotation marks in the save-dialog: "McGitt.Arma3Profile".

Remember to make a Backup first!

I found a solution for my specific issue regarding this. Even after having applied all the fixes everyone's said so far I still couldn't adjust stances. I am using the AGM mod, and it was actually taking control of my hotkeys by using my Lft Ctrl, and basically cancled out other actions with it. Once I had changed the AGM option and removed the instance of Lft Ctrl, everything worked perfectly fine.

Could be totally unrelated, but, it worked for me so no harm in me saying so.
