Arma 3 Launcher Crash/Can't Open
Recently got Arma 3 as a friend wanted to try out a few mods. However when I try to play the game the launcher instantly crashes and gives me an error message along with a text file. Verifying game files has not worked, restarting the computer has not worked, reinstalling has not worked, trying to run the game in safemode does not work. I can launch Arma 3 through the exe in the game files but the launcher is completely inaccessible, and I am out of ideas. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Below is the text file.

The following software packages need to be installed on your computer before running Arma 3 (these packages are normally installed by the Steam client when running Arma 3 for the first time). However, it would appear that you are missing one or more of them.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2
  • Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 2010 x86*
  • Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2013 (x86 - vcredist_x86.exe)*
*Note: You have to install the x86 version of the package even when you have a 64-bit system.

When you attempted to Verify the installed game, what exactly did it say (if anything)?

When I verify the files it tells me that all files were successfully validated. That is the only message it gives me. However, I don't believe I have this package installed, so that could definitely be the problem, so I will look into that next. Thank you very much for giving me a direction to try.

Thanks for the response. Since it successfully verified the game it tells me that Arma 3 is installed correctly, which should narrow down your problem to one or more of those three Microsoft packages.

Turns out I was wrong - checking for the programs at 3am apparently wasn't the greatest plan in the world, but it seems I do actually have the packages installed.

It would appear that at least one of those packages is not the correct version. According to the error message you posted you are running Microsoft.NET Framework version 4.0.30319 when you should be running version 4.5.2.

Ok so, I’ve had this issue for the past 3 days, Arma 3 can be launched but only from arma3.exe, loads up as per normal,

When launching through steam however, it appears in the taskbar for maybe half a second and disappears,

This made me very cranky.

So I reinstalled arma 3 with clean installs 3 times; didnt work.

I hope and pray to the bohemian gods; didn’t work.

Checked all drivers and updated; didn’t work.

Finally tried to install the net framework as mentioned above; didn’t Work said it was already installed

As I was about to start drinking my problems away I tried to install the Microsoft visual C++ redistributable,

Told me it needed a restart
I did ———————

Arma 3 launcher appears instantly and is working perfectly.

Thank you to all that have helped on this thread you made my day!!!
