Arma 3 keeps failing to port forward via UPnP
I keep trying to make a server so me and some friends can play but it repeatedly says "Port forwarding setup failed. Please check UPnP/IGD settings on your router." All the posts I find about this are either old or irrelevant to my situation.

Could ya help a guy out?

I have tried everything that everyone else has said to do on different posts, yet nothing fixed it. Is there something I'm missing?

Look up the brand/ model of your router. Find/download a manual for how to use it's configuration website (hosted in the device itself) Then, in there look for portforwarding. Often under security or WAN settings. When you do, show examples of how you set it. If you did set something to your best understanding, how are we able to verify it is done correctly?

Also, ask your ISP if your connection is a Dual Stack Lite. Meaning IPv4 traffic over IPv6 protocol. If so then it is not possible to get Arma to host a dedicated server. Arma 3 needs an IPv4 address on the internet, not a IPv6 address.

I am not trying to host a dedicated server, I'm simply attempting to launch a quick private session via the server browser. When I choose the UPnP hosting option, it fails and and nobody else can join into it. I'm having a separate issue.

Yes that is because you need to port forward your router, Some routers UPnP works some need the ports opening, clearly yours needs the ports opening!

You want to play with friends across the internet. Even the ingame MP server needs portforwarding, except when you are playing a solo MP session. Unless you get lucky and UPnP works somehow, portforwarding is (part of) the solution. It's not restricted to a dedicated server. Your friends packets get dropped at the outside of your router if you don't, no mater what machine the server is running on.

Yeah i got lucky with both Virgin media and Sky router's that UPnP worked out of the box with Arma 3, but i still had to port forward other games tho.

I fixed it in a different way. Thanks for your help, I got it by simply re-enabling UPnP in the router itself.

just use Radmin VPN, if you are playing with a small group. wont have to ever deal with forwarding issues ever again
