Arma 3
[SOLVED] MICROPHONE NOT WORKING
this has started yesterday, i cant get my mic to work INGAME no matter what i do, ive re-installed the game, my mic is set to windows default microphone, ive deleted all files correlated to arma 3 in programming files and appdata, ive switched from the profiling build to regular arma 3, ive launched with no mods with mods, ive verified game integrity through steam, i have the latest audio drivers, the only apps i have running in the background are
Wallpaper Engine, DisplayFusion, TranslucentTB, Razer Central, Discord, DWAgent, AMD Software, Malwarebytes, Roccat Swarm, System Informer (which none of them should be interfering with my mic)
i should also add all my steam settings are correct, steam picks up my mic just fine
i have googled it, i have tryed everything except for uninstalling my drivers and re-downloading them
and i really dont want to do that so if anyone has suggestions ill take them
and for a more described experience of whats happening in game, when i press the caps lock key, everything normal pops up, the mic icon on the bottom left and everything, the only thing that is missing is my name popping up saying that im transmitting to other players

and for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ asking if the servers have mics disabled, no they do not

EDIT: im using a basic wireless headset mic that is transmitted through USB
specifaclly the ROCCAT Elo 7.1 Air

EDITV2: I gave made a youtube video of what this problem exactly looks like in game

Go into windows settings app if on Win 10 and type in "microphone privacy settings" and make sure the bit that says "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on.
Hopefully that helps

To add on to Smash's comment. I had this problem before as well following a Windows update. Make sure Windows didn't bork your microphone settings. It changed my settings without my knowledge only once and after tons of troubleshooting (Process of Elimination) I found and fixed the issue.

Best I can find from the BI Forums. I'll do more digging if this doesn't work.

Steam did roll out two updates Yesterday as well, so make sure it didn't break itself.

Good point, worth looking at the Sound properties and check the Recording devices as Steam has stuck a bunch of steam devices in there.

Funny enough just when to use my headset for discord after awhile of not using it and had to set the headset as default communication device again lol.

this started happening after using my oculus quest 2 to play steam vr pavlov, i triple checked my windows audio settings and everything is set correctly, i even DISABLED all other outputs and inputs that were there (my webcamera has a built in mic, and i disabled the audio drivers for my oculus quest 2), it is still not working, there was no driver update that happened between when it was working and when it wasnt, i have also tryed unplugging all my usb devices and plugging my headset mic in first, did not work

I'm going to forward this to the official forums, and see what people come up with. And of course I'll make sure to link this discussion to there.
