Most mainstream/common AV's (such as AVG) will falsely flag game files as viruses. Please realise (and use common sense) that Steam would never keep anything on the Store that has any viruses or malicious files.

Yeah i had the same issue a while ago with csgo but i can't remember how i fixed it. I think it worked randomly after waiting a month or 2.

So i just finsihed re-installing arma 3 and now my AV seems fine with the game.

I recall someone else with AVG getting a similar issue with Arma 3 updating. Add an exception for your Steam folder, and your AV should ignore that area with its scans from then on.

it's not impossible for viruses to attach themselves to valid files. So it may have been an actual virus. But generally to check just go over it with Malwarebytes. AVG also isn't the best Antivirus I recommend Kaspersky Internet security or Kaspersky Total Security. I've never had false positives.
Again, as I've stated above, Steam will not house files that are known to contain malicious code or viruses. Guaranteed they have better knowledge of such things and have better AVs than most of us.

So while it is not impossible to attach viruses to game files, Steam would have detected an actual virus long before the product would have reached the consumer and forced the developer to change it, or remove it altogether from the Steam Store.

Again, please use common sense when talking about viruses and Steam in the same vein of thought.

But svchost isn't from Steam, it's designated as a system-critical executable file. So again, Steam does not host malicious files or viruses.

I also clearly stated in my second paragraph that IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE to get malicious files or viruses in games, but that Steam would have already detected it, dealt with it or deleted it, before sending the product to the customer.

If you are getting legitimate viruses or malicious files in your game files, then you are doing something wrong. Whether it is pirating a bootleg copy, using cheats/hacks for the game, or visiting the wrong kind of porn site, you're getting viruses that way, but not through Steam. End of discussion.

Thanks for the replies guys. I just re installed Arma 3 and everything is fine. I literally just kept uninstalling and reinstalling and it worked. AVG doesn't say the .exe is a virus.
