I have noticed the same problem. As far as i can read from the BI Forums, if you make the template in the watar, so not like in the vitural reality map etc.. the composition should stay the same.

Hey im still having the same problem. I put the uss freedom in the water. On sealevel. Then i put the small objects like the weapons, boatracks and cargo and crew. When i copy/paste or saving it as composition the height of all objects is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when placing the composition. And wheni place a secound one next to it the same problem. The height of the objects is even different then with the first one. Please help!

When you place or move a ship + objects you must surface snap each item by hand.

I know this is an old thread - but thought I'd comment - it might help new users. Large ships and carriers are made up of multiple pieces - USS Freedom for example has 20 parts. They are loosely 'stitched' together and as a consequence there are continual very small changes in vertical alignment and relative offsets. So snapping to surface on a multiplart ship is at best unreliable.

Yes, I think I was not clear. You'll have to snap each time after you did something to the ship. For example, the cruise missiles box you use in the Drongo Missile System add on must be snapped, or it might fall through the hull when you start the game. When you have a composition with the ship you must snap all NPC's/objects after placing it on the map (and again if you rotate/move the ship afterwards). 'Snaps' are not saved. When you i.e. have a composition with vehicles and soldiers the editor will try to snap them to the floor when you drag it into your map.

Yes I find storing relobjPos = carriername worldtomodel (object getposASL); - rel offset coords and then position the obj by converting rel offset coord to posASL - that seems to improve positioning reliability when spawning in objects .
