0xC000012F - STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_NOT_MZ
These errors are raised when the EXE or DLLs, either in the game folder or in the system folders, are corrupted. Possible solutions:
  • Verify the integrity of the game cache using Steam.
  • Re-install DirectX.
  • Uninstall the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable package (x86 version), restart your computer and install the package again (do not use the Repair function).
  • Run the Windows System File Check tool to repair corrupted system files.
  • To identify the precise DLL that is causing an issue, download a 32-bit version of the Microsoft Dependency Walker and open arma3.exe with it. The corrupted library will be listed marked in the list.

Try running w/out mods, running in admin, and/or running the game without using the launcher

Tried those as well.

Found that the file XAPOFX1_5.dll is causing the problems. But I already tried deleting it and downloading a new one. Deleting it and having the DirectX setup fix it and I also tried copying it from the SyWOW64 folder.

Hello xXRobbynatorXx,
actually the file in the SysWOW64 folder is the one that is corrupted (there is a file system redirection[msdn.microsoft.com] in effect, the System32 and SysWOW64 holds different versions of DLLs).

Try to run this fix, it will re-install the DirectX used by Arma 3: http://arma.jiripolasek.com/files/DirectX_Fix_For_Arma3.exe

Ran into a problem. Because of the DirectX fix for Arma i couldn't play other games (like Astroneer) I had to reinstall the .dll file to be able to play those games. Of course Arma won't start anymore so I have to constantly switch between the files.

Hello,
that doesn't make sense. That fix only restores the correct 32-bit files for 32-bit programs.

What files (the exact path) are you chaning and what program are you using (Windows Explorer, Total Commander, etc.)?

I've looked up the Astroneer game and according their site (and store) it's 64-bit game, so it can't share any files with Arma 3 (which is still 32-bit).

To be crystal clear:
- Arma 3 (as 32-bit app) uses files only from folder: C:\Windows\SYSWOW64\
- Astroneer (as 64-bit app) uses files only from C:\Windows\System32\
- the paths above might seem to be wrong (interchanged), they are not.

I downloaded the fix again and now both games are working.

It must of been something I did while trying to get Arma to work before asking on the Forum. :steamfacepalm:

In other words my fault and everything is working now
