Arma 3

Is there any server fix for ping = 2500 in server browser?
Hi,

I am trying to explore a known issue which has been going on for a long time with Arma and game spy, it does not just affect me, but I am curious to know how common this issue is, as I suspect most people maybe will not notice the issue and always opt to play on the lowest ping game and avoid the ? or 2500ms ones.

The fix for this issue for the client is to run Arma 3 client as administrator, then you see the real pings of all servers.

I run a dedicated server within my network, and ping shows to others in server list as 2500, yet if people did join the ping would be fine.

The problem with this is people will not tend to join a 2500 ping server usually, and most people will not be running in admin mode. I see a lot of servers which show 2500 pings empty, when I join these I usally get 30 ping or so in the game.

Why is it that some servers show a correct ping and some 2500 without running Arma client as admin? Is there any fix to do on the server?

There is a tracker for this also: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=9374

Just one more point, If anyone does have 2500 pings showing, running the game as Admin will allow your server browser to display the games list MUCH faster.

I have the same issue. When I create internet server my friend cannot join as ping showed 2500. And vice versus if my friend create server i can't join as oing again 2500. Please help!

I have gone crazy looking for a solution for this. I think it could be down to the router make. I suspect if you directly connect the modem to your computer and eliminate the router you would have a normal ping.

What doesn't make sense though is if you run the client as Admin, it will fix the problem. But this is not the solution, as most people will not run the game as admin.

Thing is there are many good severs out there running unique missions and because they are showing constant 2500 ping nobody is joining.

Make sure your not setting up your server using LAN mode. Must be on INTERNET. Also ping shows as 2500 for two reasons.....1 it cannot communicate with the server or....its on LAN mode.

Yep, I think for router also... Need to check it somehow, but hten another problem )) my cable from outside is too short to be connected to my PC ))) that's an epic fail )))

Hi, no it is not in LAN mode. Reading more about it, it seems to do with the size of the Ping packets used by gamespy. Some routers it seems rejects them, on mine there is no setting to change this.

But - as mentioned already, why is this cured if the client is run as admin? All of a sudden all servers will show correct ping, including my own, so even if it was the case running in LAN mode or not communicating with the server, why does this cure it.

Also reading the forums on this, the problem has existed for years with no apparent fix for the server to do.

This occurs when the target host is configured to not respond to ping queries. Not your issue.

Actually was wondering if someone could test something, for an example I see a server called D O M I N A T I O N (it's not my server) it shows as ping=? or 2500, when I join though it shows 35 ping. This is the case with many servers including my own.

Anyway does everyone see that server as 2500 running in non admin mode?

Actually I do not have problems with someone else server with 2500 ping. My problem is to create internet server so my friends can join. But when I create, they even can see it but with ping 2500. This 2500 can be solved loading arma as admin, but still it is not possible to join server. Message we got is "connetcion failed". I tryied port forwarding in my router, disabling firewall and anivirus, I prayed, I sacryfied one sheep in my backyard, but still nothing helps...

Most 2500 ping servers work for me and I usually get very good ping in them. I imagine your situation is to do with ports not being forwarded or opened.

Have you tried DMZ? to the host IP.

Michael, thank you for contribution to solve that small but smelling problem :) I set up port forwarding in my router, but what is DMZ? As soon as have not google it yet, no I have not set it up
