Arma 3
How do you take off in the jet?
I can't figure this out at all, I even tried using my 360 controller to see if that would help and you cant even turn the plane on with the controller, field manual says "s" is nose up, and nothing happens, i just run off the runway and into the house or the water, taking out those uav drones too

press Q.

Or even better, open config menu, go to controls, and look.

thats where it says "s" is nose up, and q and e are steer left and right a and d are bank left and right

Yes, but nose up is not throtle. Q is for speed/throtle up, Z is for speed down.

q for me is steer left and throttle for me is left shift int he field manual

Bootsy they changed the controls..
PeeB4uGoToBed Sep 12, 2013 @ 5:54am
yeah, they did, i have noticed in some cases there are significantly less keystrokes for certain actions

I already gave the hint of going to the config menu. You can remap the controls anyway you like. I think I am still using the default key's and throttle for me is Q/Z (but maybe I changed it, can't remember).

let me try to re-word this, what is the pitch to make the plane move up and down, i know the throttle and the steering, all it says is "s" for nose up and that doesnt do anything for me, the plane stays on the ground.

why dont you think i havnt checked the field manual? thats where i got the controls to begin with that dont work

Step 1-Look at controls.
Step 2-Go fast enough on the runway to actually take off, this isn't battlefield...
PeeB4uGoToBed Sep 12, 2013 @ 6:35am
:/ why do you people not think i have looked at the controls yet? apparently the length of the runway isnt long enough to just take off without having to pull the plane up

You need to have enough ground speed, before you can take off. Pressing "Nose up" is the right thing, but as Fatty said, you need speed. Around 180 km/h should be enough though.
Didn't try the Jet yet tbh.
PeeB4uGoToBed Sep 12, 2013 @ 6:40am
thank you, so i know the nose up thing is right, guess im just not getting enough speed
RLeeErmey Sep 12, 2013 @ 6:41am
If its loaded with bombs it'll take a long time to take off.. at least they got that part right with the aircraft..
PeeB4uGoToBed Sep 12, 2013 @ 6:59am
I was using the wrong runway, i finally got it airborn but for only about 15 seconds before losing altitude right after take off

Like said above, about 180 km/h should suffice for take-off speed. Don't try to climb too much before gaining more speed. And remember to 'gear-up' as you lift off. Also make sure your flaps are not up/down.
