PC Performance - Can My PC Run It???
It's the same old question that's been showing up for a while I am sure. So, let me take the time to thank you for reading my question first.

CPU: Phenom II X4 955
GPU: Geforce GTX 550 TI Cyclone II OC Edition
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 1000 GB
System: Windows 7 64

Please tell me what it is going to be like when playing ARMA 3 on my desktop. I think it's going to be bad. But how bad??? Graphic setting??? Frame rate???

Can my PC handle Multiplayer???

If you have a machine with similar specs, can you please tell me your personal expereince?

Thank you so much!!!

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN IT BUT I WOULD WORRY ABOUT ALTIS WITH ONLY 4 GB OF RAM YOU MAY HAVE TO USE LOWER SETTINGS IF YOU PLAN TO PLAY ALTIS
u can play . But set the Settings lower then Stratis ;) i have a

AMD Athlon 3 ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 ti
and 4 gb RAM

I Play Altis with 30-40 Fps :)

Grafic settings ( All High )

The best thing anyone can do for themselves in go buy a SS Drive. Even a small one and load arma 3 on it. I saw my biggest performance gains when I did that with A2. No more pop ins, and graphic glitches in the towns.
In addition, if your running a 64-bit processor, with 32-bit OS, upgrade your OS to 64-bit. From what I am reading it seems to cause issues.

I just built this system for A3, but ran A1, A2, A2OA off a i5 with crap graphics card. The SSD made the world of difference in playing.

i7 4770k
16 GB Ram
GTX-760 2GB
Arma is actually one of the few games where SSD can make difference in game performance. This is because arma continuously loads data from HDDs.

or create a Ram Disk if you have the memory. I only had 4 gigs, and you need 8 gigs for A2. I don't know about A3. I'm waiting for final release, and about 3 patches after for it work. It's BIS, they always release, and let the community fix it.

I personally saw no difference in performance using an ssd other that faster startup time. Just saying

What texture quality you are using?

Arma streams textures from harddrive and if you are using low resolution textures you probably won't notice anything.

It won't affect your FPS but will eliminate stutters, texture popping etc.

I get bad stutters on altis(mainly driing at high speed). I am hoping this is just a dev build issue but I will try the SSD method in the meantime.

I also heard this game is really CPU sensitive. Should I upgrade my processor?

Well your system seems better than mine and heres a vid of me playign with settings.

If you overlock that cpu it will run great aslong as your pc is running well.

ive done lots of tweaks with windows and launch options and ensuring my pc is in tip top performance, too much to go through but im always willing to help if you have any problems, me and my best freind play regulary on wasteland for fun we are rubbish but have fun you can join us just add me as a freind and we can help you with the big learning curve the game has.

please beare in mind im recording too so this brings fps down a little without recording i easily get between 10-20 more fps.

Ive now upped view diatance to 12000 and runs fine, also it seems to load the whole map once rathewr than loading bits of it and stops the jerkiness.

Wrong that processor is an overlocking beast it will run very well if set up properly.

Make sure you have a SSD this will give you more gain than even a new processor.

You may not like it but Intel CPU's win with ARMA as it's extremely poorly optimised for multithreaded applications.

And yes, i havee an SSD.
And the phenoms do oc well idd but most of them badges dont go over 4.1 / 4.2

Yes intels work much better much better but its all about money..

And he has not got an intel so that post was not very constructive, he did not ask if amd or intel is better, we all know intels cpu's are better thats why there more expensive.

Be nice to get 4.1 !

Only problem is he will most likely fry is cpu, he would need alot of research to do it right.
