change stance?
just played the new build in it runs like a fkn dream. proper smooth on max graphics. which is something it sadly lacked before new update.

now my question is this...

whats the deal with the stances? i cant bind any buttons because (a) everythings bound to summink, and (b) we need two buttons for crouch and/or prone.

this is something GW2 has implemented perfecly. its one button... you press it once for crouch, and hold it for prone, and it works brilliantly and doesn't require any head scratching...

i only wanna change two buttons. reload (capslock) and change stance (shift). is this possible? or am i being thick? :/

You hold the change stance button, and press W or S (forward and back), to raise or lower your stance. Similarly, hold change stance, and A or D (left and right) to change your stance sideways (different from leaning - it's like a half-step sideways). Takes a little getting used to, but seems very useful.

The only thing I find a bit unintuitive is chaging to scope / optics by pressing CTRL + RMB... I can't see an obvious way to change for something better though

there isn't a change stance button. there's a crouch button, and a prone button (toggle or otherwise) can we not do it on the same bind?

again, im sorry 4 my ineptitude (im a lone parent... with limited time and/or patience) can't this be achieved with a single key press? it seems perfectly doable in GW2 (as ive already mentioned) and it works.... in fact in works flawlessly...

if im am indeed being thick, plz tell me how its achieved?

Nope, there isn't just one button for switching between stances like that; you can toggle between standing, crouching and prone, as you discovered, and there is a high, middle and low stance for each, accessed by holding Control and pressing forward / back, but it's not possible to bind one key for switching between all stances (unless I am mistaken).

But I will say that once you get used to the controls, you probably won't find them too awkward, and they are pretty powerful tools in game.

This video explains much better than my words how the stances work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8vrbzNYEwM

n00b question (haven't tried the game yet)

Is possible to have a toggle button for "change stance" ? like press F, then press W , D to stand up and lean to the right a bit, then press F again so you can move freely ?

you will defintatly not want to wait for a second till the button activates and you hit the ground, you can be dead by then.

the reason, why it is 2 buttons is immediate reaction by your avatar

Guys, sorry to reboot this old topic but: yesterday I purchased A3 and, when attempting to try out the different stance adjustments, IT DIDN'T WORK!

After examining the control settings for at least two hours now, consulting various discussions on the internet, watching selected youtube-tutorials I finally checked the included field guide, and then it became clear - for some reason, the adjust stance control (which supposedly should be LeftCtrl) is UNDEFINED. However, I cannot find it in the settings to define a key. What am I missing? Can any of you help me out? Would be much appreciated!

Since when? Is it some new-version issue or are we blighted by the same blindness to finding some basic controls?

Hey guys. I had the same problem and felt kinda stupid about it. So i spent more time than i should have on it and found a solution!

Somehow the last update really screwed this up.

1. Go to "Documents->Arma 3 - Other Profiles"
2. Open the "USERNAME.Arma3Profile" with a text editor
3. Find the line "keyAdjust[]={};
4. Change it to keyAdjust[]={29};
5. Save file - start arma - enjoy

Now you have LeftCtrl mapped as your Stance Adjust key again.
Hope i could help some of you ;)
