Arma 3
how to fix the black screen that arma 3 sometimes gives
IF you still get the black screen then type these commands into "launch options" of arma 3

TYPE THESE (without the qutoes): "-nobenchmark -nosplash -world=empty"

You should mention do not pay attention to the warning that say : "These options are for advanced users only" {LINK ENTFERNT}
Just to clarify this a little; The main component here is the -nobenchmark. This *seems* to work for the majority of people experiencing black screens, *especially* with Intel Hd Graphics.

(On a side-note for the people trying to run with integrated graphics, it would be highly recommended to get a discrete graphics card, of basically any-kind, to enhance your experience)

The -nosplash just gets rid of the Bohemia Interactive-startup screen and the -world=empty prevents loading the background-world you would see in the main menu, showing only the ocean. Both of these speed up the game's initial startup times. And *theoretically*, these 2 shouldn't affect the loading-up of the game itself. (as in, shouldn't affect getting or not getting black screens)

world -empty makes only sense if you have more than one island in your game, so the game doesn't pick one at random and loads it while startup, and you don't need it.

if you have only stratis, the time you spare while starting will be spent while loading the mission, therefor is useless for now.

i use -empty currently only in arma 2, where i have 18 maps so chances are good it loads a map i don't need.

by the way, it's the -nobenchmark that does the trick.
this was stated by the dev's one day after launch...
bit sad it never got fixed, even if there is a simple workaround, this is not the most beautyful method to fix things...

but perhaps is more the fault of the driver manufacturer, i'm not sure who is to blame.

Hmm, ok.. Live and learn, I guess :). Are you sure this is how it does it? (could you point me to a source of this info?) I'm not trying to dispute this, just curious. I had always (and still would) assumed that it only loads the game-worlds (islands/maps), when you're loading up to actually play within it. And that the background on the main menu would be there just for the looks.

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters#Game_Loading_Speedup

also you can test it yourself.

start the game without parameter and check the speed, then check the speed how fast the world is loaded (empty editor mission should give the best results)

now restart the game with parameter and check the speed again.

the startup should now be faster, but loading the map in the editorpreview should take longer.

this was at least the case in arma 2.

Use the flush command.... helps me when screen drops to desktop but the games is still running as I can hear sound and shoot my weapon.

Flush Command:
Press Left Shift and Numpad Minus (invisible console), release and type flush.
"Flush all video memory to cure performance issue caused by textures being placed in the AGP "

When this happened to me I press my mouse to fix it, it always happens when I'm in the air flying with the joystick and trackIR on my new AMD R9 Fury X, it's the worst time it can happen too. I'm flying in the air then darkness lol.

I thought it might have something to do with screen going to sleep as it seemed 15 min after I started flying and came back about the same time 15 minutes later. Possibly my joystck isn't keeping it awake sometimes but the game continues it' just the signal to the monitor or the monitor itself. My Benq XL2730Z freesync monitor says signal lost when this happens.
I only just started getting this issue, not sure if it a bug with my GPU since I did just upgrade. No other game has this so it's linked to the game for sure.
Just start getting the black screen crash since yesterday.

I don't play Arma anymore so the fixes here are more then likey outdated. But try them out just in case.
