Helicopter Crashes
Crew members die too easily in Helicopter crashes.

I landed safetly. (Going 132) after i shut down my engine and landed directly on the wheels. on the airstrip. Didnt explode, Engine and insturments were damaged but everyone inside died. Bit too easily i think. Seeing as how it even LOOKED survivable

Its called Shock... This isnt Bf3 where you can do that ♥♥♥♥. They dont roll on their tires eather. You sure as hell cant land going 132... Think of it like this, if you cant land like it in real life you cant do it in the Arma 3...

you have to land doing like 10 or under why you would ever land going that fast is just crazy:sentry:

Shock wont kill you. Just render you unconcious. I understand that that was fast but i landed it pretty damn safetly and the helicopter just kinda slid along without an explosion. (Landed on the airstrip)

Ive never played BF3, so wouldnt know if they actually do that in the game. But you would think the wheels have a rolling purpose. (Transporting too hangars from landing pad)

Also people in helicopters have landed like a plane when they lost engine power. Albiet, a couple hit trees because it wasnt an open enough area. But most survived.

Kinda what im getting at here is that.. If the helicopter doesnt explode then you shouldnt die. Unless theres physical damage too the player before (Gun shot) That would lower his health. As in...
Helicopter explode= Instant death
Helicopter crash (No explosion) Lose 80% HP but survive. (Gun shot too chest does like 30% i think)

I think that, mostly because the helicopter crash system is actaully pretty good and, I have experimented with this, Mostly if it looks like you would die, the helicopter explodes. But if it looks like they COULD live. The helicopter remains intack.

Also Having problems EJECTING and getting out in places. Like... (experimenting) I landed my helicopter in the ocean and couldnt eject or get out. The Eject command doesnt come up in any vehicles actually.... (Sorry for long post)

What if you take fire and your engine quites out? cant really land under 10 when 125 feet up and 210 MPH

what if you go 210 MPH on car and see brick wall at front?
What does that have ANYTHING to do with Helicopter crashes? Also its pretty hard to understand you. But what kind of car do you have that goes 210 MPH? Must be pretty damn expensive. Anyway, I dont quite get your point

Actually. Helicopter wheels do roll. How do you think they get then back and forth too the hangars? Fly them in and out? Inches between MILLIONS of dollars? Precious lives inside the hangars? They attach them to little tugs and ROLL them to and fro.

I wouldn't consider landing at 130 exactly 'safe'. ;)
It's a huge amount of force to put on just a few wheels.

Also, it used to be -earlier, in the Alpha- that even a slightly harsh landing would damage the crew, or possibly even result in death. So, they've already improved it quite a bit. And they'll probably keep tweaking it further. In the meantime, try landing at lower speeds. And, fly safe. :)

Helicopters do not and cannot land going 132. A car would crumple into pieces going that fast. In all actuality you would die trying to land a helicopter at 132. So either you had something set with your guy set way high so he wouldn't die or you had a random fluke. The helicopter should have busted to pieces. So far my fastest hit into the ground was around 40 and I died.

Also with helicopters that have wheels they aren't going 132 when landing or taking off. They're going at most 5 to 10 mph. And very few helicopters actually use a rolling takeoff and only in certain circumstances.

Actually, you can and you DO land at pretty much 0-30 km/h in that situation. It's called autorotation, check it up. They model that in ArmA.
Also, recommended landing speed for jets is 160 km/h. Trying to land at similiar speed with helicopters, which's wheels are designed to roll the chopper to the hangar or assist in lift-off with heavy payloads, can't do same job as more tougher, purpose designed plane wheels.

Just to add to that; there's no auto-rotation yet implemented in A3, but it will be, later on. Instead, currently, if your engines die, you fall out of the sky like a rock.

There not regular tire wheels. Their solid rubber aviation wheels. Also. The thing is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DESIGNED so that when it takes hits from airborn objects it will withstand the force. Also. I did land it safetly because it landed exactly straight like an airplane on a runway.
