How many players in a server?
When the game releases, how many people will be able to play in a server? Seeing as the actual map is gonna be 10x bigger than the island that's only 15% of the actual map, I hope we can have big 200+ player battles without the server being laggy

the servers may or may not have lag depending on the hardware involved in each server. But let me say that a good sized game should be around 100 players. or 80-85. Remember the more bodies moving around the map the more it tends to lag. Because the game handles all calculations real time, the map is only loaded once.

Arma 2 could handle 128 players I believe, so I doubt it's going to be less than 100. I'd imagine the servers being capable of holding 200+

And the lag should depend on the player's own specs

Can someone that has ACTUAL answers instead of assumptions please post how many players are going to be capable of fitting into a single server?

Even the developers can't answer that question, the whole game is a work in progress.

right now, 50 players can play in a server with only 15% of the map revealed. thats cool for now, but when the entire map is released, its going to be really hard to find ppl to shoot i'd imagine if the servers cant handle at least 200+ players.

Arma isn't really suited for PvP, you mostly play co-op missions against the enemy AI. Game modes are usually designed so that when playing PvP the action is concentrated in one section of the map at any time, advance and secure for example.

The developers of ARMA2 didn't know how many players their game can handle until people ran into the 120 players packet loss bug.

Now ARMA3 hasn't even been released. I don't think any developer of Bohemia knows exactly how many players their game can handle, not to mention players.

Also, this is not BF3 or COD. You don't need a density of 1player/m2 or 5 players every corner you turn.
DayZ uses ARMA2's 100 or so km2 map, and you already die more often than you think in a 40men server.
