What do vehicles marked in RED mean.
I know this usually means that it is an enemy, but even my friends' vehicles are marked in red.

Arma is known for wierd things like that. Say you are on the Bluefor team (good guys) it will appear blue because thats there color. idk why but it is. Now say you are on Opfor (bad guys) there color is red, so everything thats on you team will be red because thats the color of the opfor. This also applies to indipendites and civilians which i think are green & purpple. So in other words the enimey team is not always going to be red and the team you on is not always going to be blue it depends on what the team is.

Basic terms if the original owner of the vehicle is OpFor (red) it stays red when a BluFor gets in it....

Wish they didn't do that, but ok. Is there any way to find out if a helocopter or other vehicle is being commanded by an enemy or ally?

Other than communicating with your team, no not quickly. If you know the names of everyone on your team though you can hover your crosshairs over it and it should pop up a name. just compare that name to the list of people on your team.
