My game can't get past the startup and i was wondering if someone could help me, PLEASE! I've had the Alpha for like 2 months now and it still doesn't work.

Its still an alpha so it wont be expected to work in every machine, but thats a pretty low end gpu (intergrated) although i have seen a few examples of the game running with some set at lowest setings and the rest disabled completely and only achieving 15fps which is unplayable.

So even if you got it to work sadly you will never be able to play it without some major fps issues. I have everything maxed out and the minute large action happens a huge dip in fps usually to 40fps from 80 - 90fps ! so yes it would be virtually unplayable.

your graphics arent supported by the game. The Arma III website asks for Intel HD 4000 minimum, and even then that wont be too good. The start screen actually has a fire fight going on in the background, so If your PC cant render that you probably cant even get to the main menu. Also, Intel integrated graphics arent really a "card".

This.
Seriously, get a real GPU like an AMD HD 5xxx or so, they are pretty cheap by now. I'd recommend a 7850 though if you got around 200$ to spend.

I have an AMD HD 5770, wouldn't recommend the 5-series since it's just way too old. My computer is running singleplayer just fine, but multiplayer is a nightmare on servers with 15+ players, get around 15-30 fps.

You can't upgrade a laptop. If you want to play PC games, then you need a proper desktop PC.

even better... this sucks

You will never be able to play this kind of games with that "onboard" graphic card.

i just looked it up, i could, if i wanted to, replace it with another more advanced laptop graphics card which is a lot of work. Or i could use a normal desktop pc graphics card it would just have to be external

So your going to somehow cool the gpu and keep the dust of it by having it exposed in the open, Not to mention wheres the safety of it breaking as theres no way you can place it anywhere safely. Here have a look at this nicely secure gpu hooked up to a laptop LOL ....

The fact the laptop came with HD 3000 is suggesting you have either an i3 or i5 processor which is no where near the equivalent of the desktop version just to let you know. Just save your money and buy a and build a gaming desktop computer, although im expecting some sort of answer such as you cant afford it but you can afford a good gpu. Which btws the processor on a laptop would have a serious bottleneck issue with a external gpu but you will obviously see an improve performance. I dont know how much improved im suspecting it wouldnt be anywhere as near as its potential in a desktop computer (higher grade processor).

The fact of the matter is everyone works within a budget and you clearly have not got a big one which is why we would all suggest save your money, bide your time and build the gaming computer piece by piece. I didnt purchase all my parts in one go thats just daft (unless you are rich). Only thing you do is constantly upgrade every few years at the very least.

I began to built a new gaming rig last august and got the following on first purchase,

i7 3770k
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H Z77
32 GB (12, 12, 12, 16)
1TB HDD 7200RPM (120m/s), (programs etc)
SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 7850 Dual-X OC
1000W Power Supply
Cant remember what case cost only £60

Since then i have purchased the following parts,

SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 7970
Sound Blaster Z (sound Card)
120 SSD (OS Windows 8)
240 SSD (Games)
1TB HDD 7200RPM (180m/s, Dxtory), (recordings)

okay, its just that im not a hardcore gamer and im not about to spend 1000 bucks on a computer if i wont even use it all that much. i have enough to buy everything right now but i just dont want to spend that much on a computer right now
TheScotsman Apr 19, 2013 @ 7:11am
My point being you dont have to spend that amound and tbh i spend double that if you are comparing it to the pound sterling, everything cost more here to buy unfortunately.

If you really dont want to buy a desktop computer look on amazon at gaming laptops in particular msi ones :).

I got an Radeon AMD HD 7670m and it only runs about 25 - 40 fps which is playable. Though is there a way for to get 2 cards running the game at the same time?

The only way i see improving performance is reducing the settings, disabling ppi, reducing anti aliaising, reducing shadows, and the big one reduce the draw distance !

well thanks for the tips, ill definitely use them if i ever go out and buy a new computer/laptop
