Arma 3

My men stop following me
I order my group into a vehicle , and tell it to go to a spot using the map , when we get there I order them to disembark and when they do they will just stay there and not follow me any more , if I tell them you regroup they regroup around themselves not me .

How do I get them to go back to following me ?

I have this same reoccurring problem. They wont ever follow me in some steam scenarios. Sometimes if i run into them they move and then follow me. They even say "copy" after i give a command and dont do anything. I have a mission called operation nightmare and i always fail it because arma says i left a man behind. Its really annoying!!!

just to be clear, you disembark-regroup-& then move?

'this sort of thing happens randomly to me; i am usually able to find a work-around in-mission. but i think i do recall one time, durign the beta, where this system just broke entirely tho.

Yes , disembark - regroup and I move off and they will stay there , from then I have to give them move orders to keep them with me , this has happened in steam scenarios as wolf has said , its frustrating .

must be some kind of bug with the regroup command...might want to petition BI about it. i suppose its possible its the mission designers fault?

Yeah i think youre right. I have only noticed it in some of the "lower quality" scenarios... Thats just my exp tho.

I had this problem too but I figured it out. When ever you tell the units to regroup and they respond with "Report Position", I think they just dont know where you are. What I do is give them a MOVE waypoint at my position or where ever I want to meet them and when they get within line of sight, I tell them to regroup. It works just fine, but takes a little more thought than just "Regroup". If there is a way to tell them your position, I have not found it yet.

They figured out your incompetent as a squad leader and thus relinquish your command to the next in line.

FACT.

he could try the move-to & see what it does, as this does technically fit that problem, except that he seems to be talking about immediately disembarking out of a vehicle, where the players should obviuosly know his position. so either i misread or its a bug, & a pretty bad one at that.

Maybe I misread. I thought he was saying that he sent his team somewhere in a vehicle and when they get there, he orders a disembark and a regroup. I've not had any problems with teammates not regrouping when they are in the immediate area. I've noticed when a teammate gets stuck and won't move at all, ordering them to prone or crouch and then stand up again fixes the problem a lot. It's a pain but all you can do is try to work around it.

press 1,1. works for me

the similar instance i recalll most vividly wasnt an entire squad but (during a really fun mission, tactical bacon, if you havent tried it) when a medic decided to stop following any orders, including healing squadmates...after a lot of frustration my 'workaround' was to murder him & give the medpack to someone else. dont recall if i ran into more problems with the newly appointed medic, but not exactly ideal for sure.

edit -- come to think of it, it mayve been this 'stuck teammate' bug you describe. ill have to remember that, thanks.

Try the crouch, prone, stand method next time. I've had good luck with it when teammates aren't doing what I ask and just standing there.

AI getting stuck and not moving when you give them orders.

No I didnt send them off I was with them in the vehicle , after I get out and give them the disembark order my AI team no longer follow me they just stay at that spot , regroup order doesnt help , if I give them a move order they go to that spot and stay there , they just dont follow me anymore .
