The problem lies in the conflict between sandbox and playable content. The mortar in Radio Silence mission is an actual mortar with each round having simulated ballistics, the exact same as you would get if you placed it in the Editor using the Supports system, because that's exactly what it's using. Admittedly, the mission flow was designed when mortars were much more accurate by default, hence why you're having to take out specific towers.
However, in response to user feedback, the accuracy of sandbox mortars was lowered, which makes sense when you think about it. Before, you'd order a salvo of 8 rounds in sandbox, and each round would land pretty much exactly where you ordered it. Unfortunately, this change also impacted this mission. As a direct result, we changed the mission so that, although the task fails, the mission still continues. We saw this as a solution for now (although I do still manage fairly regularly to take out each tower, myself  ) while we look at if, and how, we can properly solve the issue. Rest assured, we're not ignoring it.
this is stupid.. i hated that mission. I kept thinking i just sucked at it. Its a game. I want to blow stuff up not have 'realistic' morters that never hit the mark....
bohemia are just idiots in my mind atm
Idiots trying to simulate actual ballistics?
Dont you have anything sensible to say?
I ended up marking on the right hand tower and shelling all 8 mortars in one go, I did kill the bloke standing next to the big shed though, lol
You do know few people if anyone can sight a motor properly. The reason its done simple is for simplistic sake. Also you need to have last i checked 3 guys to man a motor, one ot sight it, the other to drop the shell in and the third guy adjusting it from the sighting instrcutions given to him by the first guy.
Also the motor is quite accurate if you have someone relaying how close each shot lands to the previous. Artillery do it that way "Bring it back 200"
I tried 8 Mortars on one tower and they all fell around the tower
I replayed that Mission countless times and it became evident that it
was impossible to complete that task.
I the the end I chose too storm it and it worked for me,which is just dumb -
because Arma 3 is supposed to be a tactical shooter.
