So (in my mind) if you are expecting a boost of 25 fps on MP from a Phenom X4 965 to a FX-6350, forget it because this game only works with 1 or 2 cores so you need to think in OC the cpu to around 4.0Ghz to get some good FPS but not a boost of 25+ FPS.
I´m not saying that the FX-6350 it´s not a good investment, you should buy it but don´t expect any miracle on this game with it.
I was trying to upgrade my cpu to an FX-8350 and a GTX 660 TI but i only could get a GTX 660 2gb and i went from a 10/20 to about 20/30 fps on MP witch is a good improvement.
Regards
As wipeout said, the game is going to love more raw speed than more cores.
I know people who play on FX8350's and get decent results. Personally, I'd go Intel because their IPC (Instructions per Cycle) is better. So clock for clock, core for core, more gets done, this is what Arma needs, but you have to pay for it.
Don't forget this isn't just about your computer. Could be poor server hardware, could be bad mission design (which is why I'm curious what you are playing).

60 fps + on sinlge player all ultra, multiplayer 50-90 on wasteland never goes lower than 50, but this is on a good mission file called sa_matra, you can search in the filter for them very good scripts.
Plays nice purely to the fact its overclocked, and this game loves big cores.
Ultimately this ^^.
So many people come here to complain about the game without truely understanding where the problems are.
The mission you play and the server it's running on are 9 times out of 10 the reason for people having bad multiplayer experience.
Can always add a hypere 121 after market cooler and get it to about 4.5 for more preformance.
Agreed with this post completely
I have Fx-4100 & Radeon HD 6850 and can run in this server with 35+ fps on high settings
What is the game settings, arma3.cfg settings?
I can OC to 4.5 OC and on SP i get to 100 fps, on MP i get around 25/35 fps, whats the secret?
