Arma 3

Is ARMA 3 worth it? (Noob here)
I haven't really owned an ARMA game, but I'm really interested in the series. I did play ARMA 2, but that was a few years ago, so I assume things have changed a lot. Unfortunately, I've been hearing a lot of horror stories about this game (and the series as a whole), so I have this one question:

Is ARMA 3 worth buying, or should I just wait until there's a price drop?

Bonus: Should I rather just start with ARMA 2 / Arrowhead instead?

Wait for a price drop on any game that's priced at $60 initially.

Depends. If you like the genre and unlimited replayability, then it's worth it. If you're looking for arcade gameplay, avoid it. I'd suggest waiting for a sale though, Christmas is coming on Steam.

Says the one who's played for like, 4 hours. How can you be so sure that everyone must think it your way?

Buy this game, you won't regret it. The new engine makes it 1000% better than ArmA II, which means that you can finally interact with things like vehicles without spending forever "Finding the spot"

I have played Arma 2 since it came out and its awsome in all ways. I would recommend you to buy it, you wont regret a second!! should try out the Dayz mod aswell if that is something for you

My question is: Will there be anymore added content?

It's all hype. Get the pack of old Arma games first. Get the "Play with Six" browser and mod manager. Play Arma2 online first. If you still really like Arma, and have managed to learn how to play (steep learning curve) and can get some multiplayer in, THEN consider Arma3 after carfull consideration. If you do get Arma 3, you are just going to want the old games anyway because it will take "All In Arma" Mod to make it worth playing.
All you get in Arma3 is 2 new maps, better light effect graphics and some neat usable water, but what you sacrafice is almost no contenet. Arma 3 is an attempt to rope noobs into a paid DLC market like DCS warthog, so they stripped Arma2 of content, broke some function, ran it through DX11 and called it Arma3.
And they are working overtime to quash the voice of critics.

Or "it's the beststest game everrrrr, gurk Ausum game buy it now!!"

You decide which is the truth.

I will say that after playing Arma 3, I don't play Arma 2 anymore except for testing Arma 2 mods in their natural habitat.

That's a good idea. Arma 2 CO alone has so much to offer that you could honestly be content with just that. Its an older game with dated looking graphics but learning the gameplay, mechanics, and systems for a cheaper price is wise. Try to meet some vets that can show you the more fun aspects of the game. Plus if you do wish to upgrade to Arma 3, you'll have all those maps, vehicles, guns, and equipment available through All In Arma. I actually run an AiA server on Arma 3 and am working on a Takistan Insurgency/Domination style mission for it. TheSneak is pointing you in the right direction. I don't agree with the part about the DLC but that's for a different thread. Look at www.armaholic.com for all the cool Arma 1/2/3 mods available. There are TONS for instant download all free of charge.

Arma is a great game if you have friends to play with. the game works fine.
Anyone who hates on it has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pc... and most of us bought the game for 13$ when it was released in alpha, atleast i did anyway.

Arma has always required a high end pc.. everyone complains the game doesnt run at 100 fps when they're running old hardware. You can't really compare this game to other games that may look better visually but lack in how manupulative the engine is. This is my opnion at least..
