How to use the UAV (AR-2 Darter) ?

Hello, I hope you can help a noob out:

I'm playing the campaign Mission "Death Valley" and am supposed to pick up and use an UAV.

So i took both the UAV and the UAV backpack out of the dead guys inventory and placed it on the ground by selecting "assemble AR-2 Darter" from the action menu (space bar or mouse wheel)

But what now? From the action menu, I only can disasselble it again.

You also need the UAV terminal from the dead guy, it's in the bottom panel when you open the inventory.

I made my own senario and i have a darter on the ground plus a terminal in my gps slot yet nothing comes up on the drop down box when i open the terminal.

After opening the terminal interface, right click the UAV and select "Connect terminal to UAV". You may then control the UAV as you see fit.

I realised why. When i placed it in the 3D editor i placed it without a 'crew' thus i couldnt connect to it.

Also, how do you make it hover, even when not being controlled and how do you move it using the terminal rather than direct controls?

It used to be possible to give various move orders to drones but for some reason that is no longer possible. What you can do is manually take the drone to a certain height then activate the auto-hover and it should remain stationary. You may also set the drone to follow you or another unit at a fixed range but that's about it.

How do you make it follow a unit?

While having the UAV selected, right click on a unit then you may select what range it should stay at.

There is no range. You can connect to any UAV anywhere and you won't lose connection.
