You do not realize you're sitting on a powder keg writing this thread.
Never say it in this forum....you will wake up all trolls in Steam. :)
But anyway...i agree whit you !
PS.
They have killed for much less here. :)
Operation Flashpoint!
LOL - Besides the jokes... I actually find OpF (Bohemia-Codemasters) still quite fun and I usually power up my old machine with it installed to bring back to life the "grunge-looking-'70s' style" and which, imo, has still the best sp campaign of all the products (ingluding in this the 2 official expansions of course).
I don't have OpF Dragon Rising (Codemasters-Codemasters) (and I'm really sad about this).
ArmA (Bohemia-Atari-505 Games) is still quite fun too (in mp, even if recently gamespy went nuts and calling a mp server has become harder but not yet impossible ---> long live the camels!).
I don't have Arma2 (Bohemia-505 Games), I guess I'll soon mind this gap.
Arma3 (Bohemia-Steam), well... great graphics of course but man, that's not really a focus point these days: it's a must. I found the sp campaing quite limited: perhaps the focusing on Kerry only as the main pc get the missions all infantry-like, letting players testing vehicles on the editor or partially in the VR training run. The rebel-phase is the more funny: you have more freedom in equipment, side-missions, and at the end you'll get more situation-ready and better equipped there. Example: silencers, nightstalker/tactical system sights... Atm I don't have tried mp yet and so I have no idea about what it offers, what it is and how to manage it. Let's leave aside the AI foolishness topic. The only things I see added for the game-play are: a bit more radio-chatting, nice inventory management, fatigue even too much implemented, UAVs, Zeus mode.
I won't even consider to comment the cart-thing add-on.
The helicopters add-on could be fine enough, more for editing/scripting/creating your own stuff than for other reasons actually.
Anyway I can't tell if Arma3 is now top-notch above all the other products 'cause it is clearly still in on-going implementation, the only thing I ask the devs is to check and test the whole product if they tune-up/change things with huge aimed patches. And I guess this is the main prob with the AI: it smells more focused to be implemented for mp sessions (i.e. more aggressive, reactive, coordinated and sharp-shooting) but having the same in the sp campaign makes newcomers getting frustrated and enraged not even being able to pass decently the first mission.
So, does All in Arma make weapons and vehicles behave like they should yet? Last I tried, Arma 2 content in Arma 3 did not work correctly. No disrespect intended to the mod author, quite the opposite infact as I believe this will always be the case until Bohemia make certain changes/fixes to the RV4 engine.
why should people have to the mod the game to get a better exsperience the game was build up to be amazing, and is kinda a let down to the true fans of arma i was just exspecting more from the guys who made it, people should not have to turn to mods to make it wahat it should already be, but that said i see ur point.
And now you have all the content from Arma 2 in Arma 3.
If you like more Arma 2 than Arma 3 is only an opinion
You do realize that ACE is hugely popular and is a must have on quite a number of servers, yet it's just a Mod. By your argument, A2 is in the same boat. I understand you love A2, we all do but take the rose tinted goggles off for a minute and realize that Arma is best played, WITH the mods. Just about anyone will tell you that.
I don't think they do.
Dont need the units from a2 anywho, theres plenty of a3 made alternatives now, only thing I use from A2 now is maps mostly the custom a2 ones, everything else has a better a3 alternative, saying that I just got iron front and converted it to A3 and runs so well considering all the negativity i heard about how it performs in A3, this has stolen so much of my time combined with alive and various a2 maps.
we can't please everyone.
Well, you can't please anyone ;p Also, who's "we"?
Simple fact is, people are overstating that Arma 2 content works in Arma 3, particularly when they use words like "flawlessly".
I'm not just on about units and vehicles either...ponds anyone?
