curiosity what's the point of ghillie suits and grass ?
What's the point in having ghilie suits ?

even tho on your end your hideing in grass and expect to blend grass some times can effect your line of sight but on the other screen of someone else you stick out like dogs balls because grass isn't there and its just a flat empty ground and oh Look doesn't he stick out no like day tomorrow

its pretty much pointless to try and steath and be a sniper really

maybe in arma 5 lol..

AI can see through walls and also go through them..a guillie suit they probably chuckle at.

Yes, it is pointless to hide in a bush from a helicopter because they have thermals. It would be pointless to hide if even a player was piloting the gunner.

I have not seen the AI go through walls in ARMA3. They seem to be very strict about going through doors and may circle around a couple times to get their angle exactly right.

There is definitely a stealth element in the game, however. Eventually they will get the hint about where the fire is coming from and will start looking in that general direction. But if they have shorter range weapons, they won't even bother shooting and "seem" to seek cover. Or at least run around like a duck in circles to throw off your aim.

I have assaulted a large camp from about 1.5 km away with a Lynx to only have them look in my general direciton and run in circles. After about 2 minutes of picking off about 7 of the 20, another section came along and assaulted my flank. This has occured for me on multiple missions on modded or vanilla. So there seems to be a command system in place for them, as well. Heck, I even seem to recall being able to edit the effectiveness of the command system or morale systems if their commander dies.

So what did you want ? Camp in a bush and kill every AI without them noticing you ? How fun!

When it comes to pvp combat the ghillie suit is basically worthless. Grass does not render that far out, and so your screen shows you all hunkered down and nearly invisible while the other player just sees a flat poorly textured hill with a lump of grass sticking out like an alimony check to your ex wife. It is unfortunate, but with the way that the ancient arma engine works with your CPU it just can't be done right now. Hopefully on arma 4 we will get better performance out of our processors. The graphics are already great for the most part, but rendering and smooth FPS is hard AF to accomplish with more than a handful of players and a short view distance. Still a one of a kind game that holds its own.
