Sure,i5 is maybe okay, but why you need to hurry? I have fx-8320 and it works more than fine for me. All depends, what kind of gpu youre running man.
As to MP FPS, I'd not want to guess. Too many variables WRT specific server, mission and mod configuration to make a definitive statement.
I have GTX 660 (not Ti) and it won't OC at all, only a very little. Videcard is in priority to be replaced (probally after release of R9 370-380X or GTX 960 Ti, may be second-hand GTX 770/780, also due to local situation, all hardware now priced like twice before),
But new GPU won't give much of performance in arma anyway...
The mainboard (GA-990FXA-D3) is also not OC-friendly, as I got. (also it doesn't allow to disable 1 core in each module). And even if, the 4.7 ghz clock on FX-8350 gain almost nothing than 4.0 ghz in another games than arma epsecially (8-10 fps in Arma 3) only heat and power consumption...
I'd still suggest that staying with the AMD is probably better ATM. The Intel i3 isn't going to make a significant difference in performance and so is more of a step sideways instead of forward. Save your effort and work towards your GPU priority.
Take the hit on performance ATM and remember that when you do do the CPU upgrade ArmA will still be waiting for you, and there is still fun to be had in the meantime ;-)
