How do I make a dedicated server?

I am wanting to start a milsim group but I have no idea how to make a dedicated server for it. Any help would be fantastic

The best way is to just buy the hosting, I presonnaly use 4NetPlayers but I defienietly DO NOT recomend it, it's expensive and UX is terrible.

If you have the cores available on your CPU its pretty easy to set up a dedicated server on your PC, and it's free, I use Faster

Be careful with FASTER - and obey the info it gives you - so really don't install the server into your Arma 3 folder as it will destroy your installation. Further FASTER needs a Steam Account that owns Arma 3 in order to work - but if you host the Server with your Main Account you will not be able to play on the server yourself - your Arma License is then running the Arma server and you can not run Server and Client with the same.

So I would recommend to rent a server at the vendor of your choice - I can recommend 4netplayers - not the cheapest but they use a quite easy tool on their website to configure the server and its mission.

I use faster and while yes you can try to install into the game directory and it will break stuff, you can host and play at the same time I do it all the time, start the server first along with any headless clients you can run, then fire up the launcher and voila, host and play.

No need at all to pay for a server if you got the spare CPU cores and a half decent upload speed, do it yourself for free.

This isnt your question but "I am wanting to start a milsim group" is a bad idea. It will be hard, will take a lot of time, and you will fail anyway.
A lot easier is to join a different group, climb their ranks and once you are high enough, change it in your image.

Just don't make it too obvious or they'll put you on trial for treason. Those milsim groups take ♥♥♥♥ VERY seriously

In answer to all other comments, I'd avoid hosting services that don't provide you an entire server instance. I've gone down this route and you will be extremely limited in what you can do with your own arma server. If you have the hardware at home, use TADST. otherwise rent a windows server and setup TADST on that. Avoid the providers that only provide an ArmA 3 server instance and nothing else.
