Arma 3

Regretting my Arma purchase, slowly but surely
Every game I own gives decent fps but Arma 3. It's getting ridiculous how taxing this game is to my card and rig in general. I have a low end to mid tier rig. Nothing special. Specs below:

AMD FX 8320 oc to 4.3 ghz
Cooler Master EVO 212 Cooler
EVGA GTX 760 ACX
EVGA 600w PSU
Ballistic sport 12 GB RAM DDR3
Cooler Master HAF 912 case

I plan on getting the GTX 970 in the next month, but not sure if that even matters. Can I get this game to run decent at all? Anyone else having issues?

Its not your hardwares fault so don't beat yourself into the ground. Even the most powerful PC's are having this issue mainly because ARMA 3, like ARMA 2 was poorly optimized because of the out of date engine. All you can really hope for is very small patches that will literally increase performance by 1 fps. The only way they could fix this is if they rewrite the games code which can take months and I'm pretty sure Bohemia Interactive isn't going to take that into account.

I'm having the same issue and all I can really do is play on miniscule settings and download the old Arma 2 maps which aren't as performance demanding. Like takistan, Zargabad, etc.

Sorry I really couldn't help but heres something I did to gain a little fps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_iQcsfcdEg

Having no issues whatsoever with GTX 770 graphics card and i7-4790K 4.00GHz with 8gb ram. The settings are not set to max but close enough. Mostly view distance adjustments.

i run it high-ultra at 1440p with my gtx 680 4gb

It's your AMD CPU that's causing the issue. Arma isn't using all the cores. People with i5/i7 get much better performance.

Sorry buddy but 760 won't cut it unless you do a bit of overclock. Your CPU is really bad though, there is nothing you can do about it. What were thinking mixing AMD CPU with Nvidia GPU?

I am running all my games at 1080p, so you guys must have some optimal settings. Are yall overclocked?

Is it cuz Arma 3 can only use a single core?

Uh not that bad if I can run every single other game in my library but this one. So if you can't help or give feedback that can help, why post like a tool about it?

Thanks for this vid. It helped me get an extra 20 fps. Now I just need it to be optimized a bit more.

It's really strange the optimization of this game, Iam on a 6yr old rig running a first gen I7 at 2.93 with a 1Gb GPU and performance of this game though not perfect it runs beyond acceptable even in full servers, and yet conversly this guys boss of a tower is leading him into regret. Weird.

My Specs:
I7 940 2.93ghz
HD 4870 1gb
12gb Tri Chan ram
ASUS P6T Deluxe
1600x900 60hz

You're using 5.56 against a guy with a plate carrier, aren't you! LOL. Probably not even hitting what you're aiming at.

Again, LOL. You don't really want to play ArmA at all. You'd be better off in GTAV or some other 'combat' sim.

Currently ArmA 3 is sitting at 9th place on the Steam table of current online players with just a tad over 28.5K players. I'm seeing a few negative posts on the first page of the Community, and if you work that out as a ratio you get to the fact that this post is actually completely and utterly irrelevant.

Plus you have to realise that owning ArmA 2 and/or 3 isn't any indication that someone can actually ArmA!

My rig isn't anything high end. More mid tier. You must be referring to the other thread by the other player with the i7 with gtx 780i. His rig is much better than mine.
Hello there

I have an old i7 920 @ 2.8
7850s in xfire
12gb of ram.
Asus P6 mobo

Also bought in 2010.

My fps with some fiddling are fine.

Nof BF3 smooth but playable for a sim.

Try FSX and see how many frames you get there.

All simulations are more demanding of hardware than most games.

The 760 can cut it, the CPU is not really bad, it's actually a pretty good CPU considering the price. Mixing an AMD core with an NVIDIA GPU isn't a problem. I would suggest doing some research before attempting to offer advice so as not to subject others that need assistence to incorrect/flawed information.

I have an 8 year old PC with 4 gigs of ram (the kind you cant even buy anymore) and a gtx 650 graphics card, and Arma3 runs pretty damn good. I get a FPS drop to 15 - 20 in a large city but only if im in a vehicle. Normally I have around 30 - 34 frames, which seems fine to me.

Get "Playclaw" (on steam also avi), and check where your bottleneck is.
