VCOM
VCOM is incompatible with the SP campaign.
AI mods are not recommended at all for the SP campaign, unless it's something like the (to my knowledge) now defunct "C2" mod, which allows you to control your AI squadmates more easily.
Yup. Lots of scripting and triggers in the campaign that AI mods will mess with.
If you're having trouble, I recommend downloading "Simple Single Player Cheat Menu (SSPCM) from the Workshop. When I first played through A3's campaign back in '17 or whenever, it helped with the slogs. I play for the story, not so much the challenge. Not at first.
Having recently revisited the campaign, and soloing Apex all in one go, I will say that the mission you're stuck on is one of the tougher ones in the campaign because of its phases. The initial assault is all well and good, and you can die for sure, but you've gotta save enough AI and ammo to deal with phase two, killing the mortars, and phase 3 which is the panicked retreat/defense and then finally withdrawing.
My recommendation is to keep your AI squadmates back at the base you assault, station them in that tower. Also, use that tower to stop the enemy attack. After taking a few shots, switch floors and windows so the AI don't just blast you the second you re-peek. If you don't switch, yer gon' die.
Don't forget you can pick up AAF equipment, and tell AI to do so as well. I'm very much hinting at picking up launchers here.
Give it a few shots, take it easy, have fun.
SSPCM, make sure you enable it in the mod list, of course, and when you open your map there should be a little button near the top left that, if I remember, is a black bar with "SSPCM" or "Enable SSPCM". Click it. I believe there are also notes available telling you how to use it, in that same area where objectives, teammates, etc. are listed.
I asked if there's something I should be pointed in the direction of to make breaking even work
I literally gave you the answer hours ago. If you can't figure this out, it's best to uninstall the game and move on.
what I ASKED is is there anything I should look for in particular to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the start of breaking even
