arma 3 is one of the final games of the gaming golden age
face it, this game came out right before dei, upscalers, unreal engine 5, taa, and wokeness.
There will never be another arma 3, its not possible. Not even after arma 4 comes out. 3 is just a cursed number in gaming, enjoy these games with your friends before the population is completely gone.

It's a good job arma 3 isn't going anywhere.

Arma 3’s engine, Real Virtuality 4, represents the culmination of years of development, refinement, and innovation.

As the apex of the Real Virtuality engine lineage, it embodies the essence of the original engine that launched the Arma franchise while integrating the cumulative improvements from its predecessors.

This makes Arma 3 not just another entry in the series but a historically significant title in its own right.

Arma 3 refined and unified the technical and creative advancements from earlier titles, all while retaining the distinct footprint and vision of its original creators.

The development of the Arma series occurred during a period marked by severe hardware and software limitations. Undertaking such a complex endeavor under these constraints demanded ingenuity, technical prowess, and creativity from its developers—qualities that elevated the franchise above many others of its time and continue to set it apart in the modern gaming landscape.

The Real Virtuality engine—despite its age—remains unsurpassed in several key aspects. Competing engines, and even its spiritual successors, have yet to replicate its unique combination of large-scale simulation capabilities, dynamic environments, and military authenticity.

While Arma 3 does exhibit certain shortcomings—such as its outdated user interface, occasional animation quirks, and peculiar physics behaviors—the engine’s underlying systems perform a range of complex simulations that often go unnoticed.

These overlooked elements contribute to a level of realism and immersion unmatched by most other military simulators or sandboxes.

Arma 3’s true strength lies in its unparalleled support for modding, community content, and player-driven creativity.

Its vibrant and dedicated community has built an ecosystem of user-generated content that not only extends the game’s lifespan but also fosters a sense of cohesion and collaboration rarely seen in modern gaming.

This legacy of modding and community-driven development solidifies Arma 3 as the definitive king of the golden age of its genre, a title it will likely hold for years to come.

Looking ahead, it may be decades before another game can rival the depth, complexity, and 20+ years of cumulative engine development that Arma 3 offers.

For those fortunate enough to have witnessed the franchise’s evolution, Arma 3 stands as a testament to the passion and skill of its creators and the enduring power of a dedicated gaming community.

When I was a kid, one of my obsessions was the original Flashpoint, back when it was called Cold War Crisis. Even then, the modding support and community were top tier. I even created some of my own missions in the editor (and probably put more effort into those than my schoolwork lol). But then I stopped, many years went by, as did ArmA 1 and 2, then I started getting an interest in milsims again when 3 released. Still, I waited a while before I bought it, and even longer still to start playing it. The engine and its underlying depth are truly impressive and I'm hoping to sink some time into it this year. I might never be a hardcore player, but Bohemia Interactive has always been the king of milsims IMO.

Not many companies share their tools to modify the files according to our tastes (PVE).

BIS will always be in my heart because I learn "basic" programming with this series (OFP to ArmA Reforger) ... .

Only game I could pour 8k hours in and keep going. What makes Arma special is that YOU make it special

Agreed! Sadly Arma 3 will most likely be removed from steam in the future for not being woke enough, amd when you see how bohemia plan to release "arma" 4 with multiplayer/pvp mode only and without any form of editor or modding possibilities, it just goes to show what the future of "gaming" is.

You're overthinking if you see any probability of Arma 3 being removed form the Steam. Also, Bohemia never stated they plan to release Arma 4 without Edior or modding possibilities. Arma lives on modding and editor. DO you think Bohermia would be that stupid to remove the sandbox features from the only sandbox military game on the market? Where did you read those things.
A3 will never leave my ssd. My pc will fall apart around it.

I do think that for the true heart, and soul of the Arma community, Arma 3 will be the peak, and Arma 4 will just never deliver the same experience as A3.

did you just make up a scenario to get mad about? Or is arma 4 actually not going to have editor possibilities (actually wondering)

I still prefer Arma 1, it had the soul of Operation Flashpoint : Cold War Crisis. I believe you are too young to know it.

It's not the same thing, the A2 players liked the gameplay of A3, they just didn't like the 2035 setting.

I'm not talking about a setting, or content, I'm talking about features, and how the game plays. Arma 3 could be the peak because I don't see Arma 4 having the same features as A3, and likely never will.

Arma 4 might have a few feature with a little more detail, while other core features will likely to be lacking, or missing all together.

Why would you assume arma 4 will not have Arma 3 features? The only reason why Reforger doesnt have them, is that Reforger wasnt even ment to be full arma title
