how do you just grab ammo

im trying to figure out this, lets say you only have 3 bullets left and saw a weapon similar to yours but you cant take the bullets just their weapon ,how do you only get bullets for your own weapon

just pick up the rifle, remove the magazine and put it in your pack. Re-equip your rifle and you're good to go. Obviously the ammunition must be compatable. For e.g. if your rifle requires 6.5mm you won't be able to use 7.62mm

Also if the enemy that is down has the same ammo I believe you should see an option in scroll wheel options to rearm at rifleman or whatever.
