The Tanoa map is real right?
If so does it come with anything new?

I personally was wondering if it's based off of a real life Island (Just like Altis is the island of Limnos in real life).

When you look at the size of Lihir it does match what Tanoas size is, and it does look very similar, but Im not to positive that it is this island. It looked different in the E3 video, but they did say they were adding more buildings. Looking at the real Lihir island, there are just a few towns around the coast, and some shacks here and there, so I hope they dont add too many more buildings if Tanoa is Lihir in 15 years.
Ok thank you

i think it will be near the real version of altis and stratis on google maps. so i doubt they will break this trend by going to the other side of the world. they were talking about an achepelago and it being very densly forested. i looked on google maps for islands that match the trend and the descriptions my best guess is the island skopelos or a combination of the surrounding smaller islands south west of the previous maps

edit alonnisos is also a matching island and could be be the center body of the map

"Arma 3 Apex Pre-Order*

With the brand new 100 km² South Pacific island Tanoa, a co-op campaign, and new vehicles, weapons, and characters at the heart of Arma 3 Apex, this upcoming expansion for Arma 3 aims to dig into the theme of near-future combat, expand the main game's line-up of more familiar / modern-day armaments, and introduce new vehicle classes, such as VTOL aircraft and Light Strike Vehicles."

Oh and their also adding a new visual renderer to the game that they didn't mention in this statement. Everything will look alot better at the release of the apex dlc, and hopefully run better too. Btw you don't need to own the dlc to get the new visual renderer/ other optimizations.

It's based on the Fiji (vegetation, landscape, houses) but it is not from real location.

PS: I did not read all the above post :)

It's not a 1 to 1 Fiji, but it's quite damn close! if you've ever been on a tropical island you'll feel right back there.

I highly doubt it, every map thus far has been based on real locations, I dont know what would make you assume they would base a south pacific island on a mediteranian one, but I can assure you Tanoa isnt based on anyhting near Limnos, I think the map is fictional but thers no doubt this is south pacific. Chernarus was in the Czech Republic, Takistan was an Afghan/ Pakistan amalgam, Sahrani was either south american or spanish mediteranian, ofp was all over east europe. So your logic is flawed

I think it's the Réunion Island. A departement of France.
https://www.google.fr/maps/place/R%C3%A9union/@-21.0915807,55.5218483,98427m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x2178778110b8e43b:0x4a7f8e89ecdbeaf9!8m2!3d-21.115141!4d55.536384

Moreover, in the story mode many local rebels speak French. A new car texture appeared , where there is marked " Gendarmerie " -> An other french word.
Sorry for my approximative english, i'm french.
