FPS issues

ive had this game a long time and i have not experienced any lag issues what so ever until now i was playing stratis on my mates modded recruitment map and all of the sudden i go to the firing range shoot a few rounds and i shift tab to go to steam overlay to tell the recruits to join, and then I suddently dropped to 8 fps this has never ever ever happened to me so what the hell is goin goff, this pc is brand new and There has never ever been any lag issues on arma 3 until now so what the hell is happening...
