But before you get too excited, check here,[dev.arma3.com] there are some pretty heavy caveats that go with these clients.
So while Linux/Mac now have a client, until things flesh out a bit you're probably going to be restricted to a vanilla 1.42 experience, and there is no word as yet that the situation will be remedied ever. YMMV.
It also looks like no Tanoa, definately no DX12 (or the OpenGL equivalent) which in my case is a deal breaker. Still downloaded the Linux client to my box just to see if it does work -- and it does!
But at least it's a start...
In the meantime, I'll continue playing the game 'for real' on my windows machine.
I'm sorry for your MacBook Air... But even if Arma got a proper Mac version you would probably play below 15 fps in the best scenario, at best you got an Intel hd graphics 6000, if you really spent a fortune there is an i7 clocked at 2.2 Ghz, that's some serious hardware limit.
