Arma 3

Broken multiplayer, broken game
ARMA3 used to be my favourite game. My friends and I used to play coop all the time. It was simple: click new game, choose a map, play with friends. Now, no matter what we do, it is impossible to host our own game. First, before the last patch, it kept on denying our connection attempts. Now our games do not show up at all on each other's computers. It is not as if we weren't playing easily before. My friends and I logged over 100 hours together.

Patches and game development are supposed to improve the game not have clients raging at their computers for hours. We have tried hosting dedicated servers, opening multiple ports, downloading third-party software. Nothing works. One of the people attempting to join my game is with Network IT Support for a local highschool who has, after hours of attempting to 'create a game' declared that "ARMA3 is totally broken".

Cannot tell you how disappointed I am that the creators of this game have, somehow, taken such a mammoth back-step.

Same issue here. We tried port forwarding and many other "fixes" around the internet and we cant get anything to work. 210hours logged into Arma3 but I am losing interest due to this issue. Its not just a few people either, I see complaints everywhere I look.

Its a bad update. Calm down, a hotfix will be out within a week like every other time they break something. Try switching to the dev build in the meanwhile because it may already be fixed on that.

Some people just got the issue recently yes, but others such as my group have had this issue since the gamespy shutdown almost two months ago.

Yeah, I know. It's bad considering how much fun everyone was having. I am losing interest too.

From what I gather from other comments, it's not just a bad update. Something to do with GameSpy or some-such. And the company is not talking about it. There is no "yeah, this is the issue and we will have you playing again in no time". There is just silence. So no. Calming down is the last thing we should do. I had a game I paid for, it was working, then someone broke it. I just want it fixed.

Yeah, don't know the details there. If it is gamespy, then the game might be permanently broken. :(

I am almost there, especially after my friend and I spend over an hour for the second time this week trying to get a game going. Games are supposed to engage not frustrate so I appreciate your position.

Tried Hamachi. Downloaded it from a site called softonic.com. The installation loaded adware on my computer, specifically a data collection program called VuuPC. It took me half and hour to get it off. Not your fault but I would really like to know where you downloaded your 'clean copy' of Hamachi from.

All this because someone munted multiplayer!

https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx

Thats the link i used. Choose unmanaged and you should be good to go

Go to your downloads, and find Hamachi. Double-klick on it, to start installing. Your computer will ask you to confirm it, just click ok, there’s nothin dangerous about Hamachi. Create a network After installing Hamachi, you will need to open Hamachi. You have 2 options: -Create a new network -Join an allready existing network You want to have your own server, so klick on Create a new network. You’ll have to make up a name, and a password. Thats it, you’ve made your Hamachi network. Add friends So, now you have downloaded, installed Hamachi and created a new network, you want your friends to join your Hamachi network. They will have to do the same exact steps as you did, but they will have to klick: Join an allready existing network, instead of: create a new network. Hamachi will ask for the networks name and password. Give your friends the name and the password that you made up. After they’ve joined, you’re good to go! Setting up your server So, you’ve done all those steps, and you are allmost there!

A tutorial i found that may help you aswell . Once you have done all that just start a LAN game and get your friend to search lan games and not internet in the server browser

A lot of games are still coping with the loss of GameSpy. Give BI some time to adapt.
