Arma 3
Have 3.4hz quad core, R9 270x Hawk and 8gb Gskil ram, having performance problems
I just got this new GFX card 2-3 weeks ago, and I am not having problems running anything out there. I can do Crysis on Ultra, BF4 Ultra, and many other new games.

Does this game just have optimazation problems with AMD or what?

Anybody out there with similar specs and able to run it on anything other than low in 1080p?

I mean, I have a Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4, I should be able to at least get this on highers to medium settings right? I know it is more CPU intencive but if lower end CPU's are able to run it why is my still fast CPU able to play everything else out there but not this one game?

I really don't want to have to stick to Arma 2...

not with amd in gereal, for example it works like a charm with amd gpus. but amd cpus and this game == problems. most "i" intel series cpus (3,5,7) perform better in video gaming than any strongest amd cpu. specially in arma. arma is very cpu demanding, and very uncompatibile with amd cpus.
Well, that makes no sense becasuse the recommended specs are lower than mine.

Recommended:
OS: Windows 7/ 8 (64bit)
Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better
DirectX®: 11
Hard Drive: 25 GB free space (SSD/Hybrid HDD/SSHD storage)
Sound: DirectX®-compatible

Mine is...
Os: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit
Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHZ
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Gpu: MSI R9 270X HAWK Edition 2GB GDDR5
HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB

What are your actual framerates at those settings? The game struggles to maintain 60FPS, but it shouldn't be dropping below 30 too much either. For example, same CPU but a slighly worse GPU yields these results:

Are your framerates low in single player, the editor, multiplayer, or all of them? Are your CPU cores parked by chance?
Well my frames are pretty high in singleplayer, but in multiplayer I am getting as low as 15 fps to 20. No matter the settings. I have heard that it has a lot to do with if the server is on a high end system or not, but even like 30 ping servers I get horrible unplayab;e lag.
Ah, yeah, it's most likely the servers. Your ping isn't what makes the difference, it's the server hardware and the mission being run. A lot of missions have poorly written scripts that cause issues, and combine that with lower end hardware or shared hosting and you can have some issues. Try different servers and see if you can find one you like with the game mode you want. It can be time consuming, but ultimately worth it when you find one that has solid performance.
Are there even any servers that are playable? Literally every server I join I get 15-20 FPS. This is a disappointment on so many levels...
Its the cpu not that you have a bad cpu just that its speed needs to be higher to run Arma 3 in multiplayer. As it was stated above its a very cpu intensive game, the reason you are lagging is cause your cpu is not keeping up with everything that is going on in the server ie being loaded in the game. Your best bet other than upgrading your cpu is try to overclock the cpu to get as much out of it as you can that is stable that will definitely help the lag & fps your getting.
I'm pretty sure if he monitors his CPU load it'll not even be close to maxed in MP... just a poorly written game.
it does not make sense if you compare to sys requirements in theory. in practice, it is the fact that amd cpus poorly perform in arma games.

I have a i5 3570k and it runs like ♥♥♥♥ too.
also 15-20fps in mp is very low. with that rig even with amd cpu you should get a bit more. i am getting around 35-40+ in koth mp matches with i3 @3.1 and 5770 and 8gb of ram (max resolution and high details). filter sa-matra in servers and join some game with no more than about 30-40 players.

I followed this guide...it helped raise my FPS a bit. I think i just need a new cpu which im reluctant to buy just for Arma & DayZ.

Thanks guys, I did a lot of tweaks to the game, and did command lines and it is running at a solid 20fps lol. I will check out that server and the video above. Tanks again.
Hey guys! Thanks to everybody for the help! I got on that server Weedian told me to, and that video 2 posts above helped me optimize the game even better! I got a stable average 45fps in MP on a mix of Ultra, very high and standard settings.

Once again! I can play it now woth goox gfx and it looks like that server really helped me play it fluidly. I knew my PC should be able to play the game with some high gfx, and indeed it does!
Its all ways ran 30FPS in multiplayer nothing to do with the servers .....Start your own multiplayer game with no AI or scripts and you still get 30FPS ....

All so im running

AMD 4.5 GHZ OC 8 CORES
GTX 760 OC HAWK 2GB

28-30 FPS Multiplayer
58-60 FPS Single
.........................................

I get the Same FPS on my other pc

Intel Quad core 3.0GZ
GTX 550TI OC 1GB

28-30 FPS Multiplayer
30-46 FPS Single
