So I can expect 60fps without issue
Yeah I hear you. Have 1620 hrs in with an i7 4 gen. Hoping my new CPU can allow me to finally play with 60fps
Does look like a decent CPU tho looking at the Intel website
Ddr5 is already out?
Hey! I've been waiting 8 damn years for 60!! Let me hope in peace
Dont hope, know, hoping is just playing the lottery, take it from my experience, been in this series since the beginning, 20yrs!
I recommend
i7-700k or better, put the game on an SSD, get minimum ram thats 16+gb with 3000+ freq, gpu at least 1070 or better, and you'll be fine.
Dont minimize with this game, if you cant afford an I7 or better then wait, not worth 30fps, its cpu intensive and needs good ram with a higher freq without that your going to be struggling and asking questions.
Add mods in the mix, lots of AI, heavy scripted missions and your not going far, invest in your time, if you plan to spend any considerable amount of time in this game then invest on the tool the vehicle that will get you there and maintain that without issues or without frustration.
A fun time sp or mp deserves a good performing machine to accommodate the game.
Running an I7-700k at 4.2gh, 32gb ram at 3600 mhz, arma on an SSD, and a 1000watt psu myself and game runs most times 50-60+ depending on the mission, most heavy missions i play are in coop with mods and scripted mission and my average fps there is around 45-55fps it varies in that range.
If you had an I5 with the same thing you'd be getting 20-35fps which is almost unplayable, i was there with my prior machine, so invest in the right parts, that means either wait til you have the money or spend more.
As of right now I play with an i7-4770 with 32 gb of ddr3 ram and a Rtx 2080. I'm Geeting 30-70 frames depending on what I play. And thats not in the editor or anything.
I originally wanted to grab an i9-12k but was told that it would be wasting my money if I was only going to use it for gaming which I am. I watched a benchmark video and the i5 puts out more or less the same performance although the CPU is near 100% workload where as the i7 or i9 is not.
So I'm a bit conflicted as I had my sights set on the 9 but after watching that video I can't really justify spending that cash when another CPU will get the results for what I want.
I also know that I've seen users with i9's complain in Arma forums about terrible performance. I have 1620 hrs in Arma with terrible performance and I'm not really looking at upgrading specifically for this game. I may bump up the the i7 but I'll wait and see until tomorrow when I buy everything.

This is the benchmark video I've watched.
ArmA 3 is singlethread performance bottlenecked. As soon as the main "simulation thread gets bogged down" so does the entire game. Find a CPU with the highest possible frequency you can. I personally run a Ryzen 9 5950X and ArmA3 still has bad performance at times.
I am upgrading everything to it's max for returned performance. I'll have 64gb ddr4, SSD drives and more in my build. I was going for a i9 but learned that it's wasted money if all I'm doing is gaming.
