Join a PVE Coop Group. It aint singleplayer, but its really good. You can join us

We play in EU times on Fridays and Saturdays generally and sometimes Sundays. Server is up 24/7, so hosting on workdays is possible.
We also have an Antistasi server that you can play on 24/7.

We have no specific faction, so Zeuses can make mission where we play as anyone against anything. Once you join you can attend missions immediately. There are trainings, but they are for "dibs" (someone who is a pilot trained, can pick pilot role before others).

We are not serious milsim, I would describe us as Semi-Serious. You can joke all you want, but when bullets start flying, cut the crap, until they stop.

We are pretty new, so we don't have a lot of attendance yet. Small unit tactics it is than.

Anyway's, to answer your question, try the scenario/mod "Hunter Six". Lot's of ways to complete this scenario so think outside the box.
Alternatively familiarise yourself with the eden editor, its completely worth the frustration, as eventually you can manufacture the exact situation you want.
Lambs AI mod, is beneficial in this respect as the AI commands given mean the AI won't be predictable each time you play the same scenario.
Lastly, MODS, since you are playing single player, you have the opportunity to create as immersive an experience you want with the mods as you desire as their is no restrictions.

I play mainly only single player as I enjoy this experience more and at my own pace, Some other mods I recommend are OpsCom, DirectAction, Blastcore, JSRS sound, Tarkan footsteps, Arsenal, TGRM, and lastly scenario Ground Zero is a fun way to waste 20-30 mins.

I can recomend you to play RIS scenario with realistic mods like: ACE, KAT, RHS, animated recoil coefficient changer and so on.

For SP oh god no ACE is great but you need ACE no medical for SP or small groups medical just makes it a ♥♥♥♥ show for solo players or tiny groups doing say antistasi.
