If you sign onto a server with limited slots for pilots and you don't know what you are doing or you are not using that slot correctly, then it takes away from the experience from everyone else.
For example - invade and annex servers usual have a whitelisted pilot spot. Often times you load up a squad / platoon worth of guys and have to fly more than 10 km away. Nobody wants to spend the time of travel only to die because of stupid pilot error.
Now. Take king of the hill, warlords or any other server without those rules. You can buy a chopper and fly to your heart's content because A- you bought the chopper and you can do as you see fit with your money/CP and B- if you suck, people will notice and not get on your chopper or be bothered with you.
So as a test I recommend going on koth servers and flying for them. See how they react to you if you mess up.
Then strictly use SDB's against enemy Bot tanks and Harms to take out local air defense at 10 miles on approach to AO. When all gone, go away and reload.
This avoids friendly fire and laser games by randos intending to incur losses with killing teammates for pleasure and my loss.
I am deaf and do not do voice, I will respond to special chat requests until target or problem is resolved.
Most of the time its in order and in the server i use, theres several layers of constant air cover thats effective over AO anyway.
Key word a bit of flying. Bought a new 32 inch monitor so I can see stuff effectively from the air now. So that helps.
Same with artillery which itself is usually banned in most servers because again a wild rando can really destroy everyone's teamwork and game experience. That was my first love because it can be very effective on Altis.
If you prefer a more relaxed form of free play without much restrictions, consider the public/official Warlords mode servers of the game. Those are just join, buy some gear and/or vehicle and hop into the action. As long as you do not cheat, intentionally kill allies or such, you should be alright on those.
Each group or community who sets up their own server has the right to set up the rules and ways to play they prefer, keep in mind that they are the ones setting up and owning the server in question, to which you are just a visitor.
