Helicopter Pilot / Gunner COOP - Marking Targets?
Hi all, could someone please give me closure on the following problem?

When flying an attack helicopter with a coop buddy online, I don't appear to be able to mark targets for him to engage. By this I mean I can lock a target that I can see but it does not show up on my teammates (the gunner's) display, either on screen or via the radar. I am pretty sure this was possible in Arma 2.

I know I can use map markers to locate targets, but that just detracts from the whole 'experience' and is not very intuitive

Thanks in advance.

Are you on the same squad?

Like on the slot lobby "You are raptor 1-1 and he raptor 1-2?"
If he's in a diferent squad you can't mark him targets. Also, mechanized, helos and planes are marked on radar.

The server we are on does not have group slots unfortunately. Your answer makes sense but I am sure when I played ARMA 2 Domination, the players were not grouped but it still allowed you to mark targets.

I will make a mission and try it out as a group.

Thanks for the response mate.

I remember there are maps where you can create a custom squad using scripts, arma 3 also have servers like that.
But you always needed to be on the same squad to mark a target, or been a high command if i'm not wrong.

Thanks again for the heads up mate.

I play battlezone Altis v2.1 a lot and as mentioned above, that only allows us to choose single callsigns. Shame I dont have the option to create a group in the game.

Yeah, I thought so. I think the AFO server let's you form groups, but is insurgency server.

The only way I know of for marking targets for players/ai is to manually mark them via the squad commands. I don't rememer exactly which F key it was, but something like F9 will bring up a list of targets that you can choose. However you need to know which one you are looking for, since it will only give you the target type, range, and bearing on the list.

I made a quick heli attack mission and played as a group with my friend. Same deal. I can target and get a lock and he sees nothing.

Both the Blackfoot and Kajman

The Pilots generally control things such as rockets and missiles in A3. The gunner simply uses the chin turret. Otherwise the gunners are the one who need to lock on to the target.

By default, you can only give orders to the gunner. You only control weapon systems by selecting manual fire. The gunner should be taking care of all the weapon systems, as the pliot should be concentrating on flying th heli. This is after all, meant to be a milsim!

I wish it was that easy! Unless I am doing something drastcally wrong...

I was hoping to see enough comments to warrant posting the issue on the feedback tracker but now so sure now.

I didnt read any of the comments but that is weird. I dont think it works like that I dont know. I had someone as gunner for me too and I was flying and I locked onto the targets for him or he knew where to look and guided the missle over there when he wasnt locked onto it its weird. The missles are guided wherever the gunner points the crosshair at and the missle will follow it. I was flying the AH-66 Comanche (Blackfoot is what they call it in game).

It would be nice if I lock onto a target and the gunner sees it. I dont know if he was screwing with me or its not setup like that in the game. But I was locking onto the targets for him and he was hitting the same targets as I flew by ground targets.

Well, the only way to designate a target is selecting the gunner in squad or pressing "2" (Target) and (The target number - followed by it's name). If you guys are pressing T to mark targets he/she will never be able to see it.

Thanks for the info.

Was hoping it would have been more simplified than that. Sometimes you come acroos guys who are willing to jump into your heli, who are not in your group. Shame.

It will also say the target in the transport channel, I tested it with a tank but well I was the commander need to do a test with choppers.
