After capturing the camp, the moment you get close, he just suicide bombs with a grenade.

Is it possible to take the guy alive? Even tried smoking him out with WP.

Tried rushing for an interaction, nada, he always bombs himself before I can take him.

You could try like using a mod called MCC witch allows you to have Zeus in campaigns, you could try and teleport (Using a mod like Zeus Enhanced) to teleport to the colonel to see if it is possible or a scripted event that will happen regardless

Sounds like what he'd say after a "good enough" effort. Also, the objective trigger completed, and I was killing approaching VC with suppressed gunfire. He only said that after (multiple VC KIA later) trackers opened fire to report movements.

Also doesn't explain how the objective was labelled as "complete", but the officer still suicide bombed.

I've also seen youtube walkthroughs, and in their runs, the officer also suicide bombs you.
