Arma 3
XBOX 360 Controller Help?
I have an XBOX 360 Controller and would like to get it set-up for ArmA 3 but haven't the slightest idea how to start. Can anyone out ther give an old Grognard a basic tutorial on how to get the handset set up? I an good at following instructions. I would be grateful.

Plug in your controller and launch Arma 3.

From the main menu go to Configure > Controls > Controller.

You should see your Xbox 360 controller appear in the Controllers With Scheme panel at the bottom of the screen. Select your controller and click Disable.

Now you should see your Xbox 360 controller appear in the top panel called Customizable Controllers. Click OK.

Back on the Controls panel you can select the various categories from the drop down menu, select a function and then press a key on your controller to bind it.

The above reply should work. I honestly don't know why you wouldn't want to get used to a mouse instead though. They are a lot easier to make precise movements with. You will most likely get your ass handed to you, to be completely honest.

Interesting question, I'm in the camp with those who don't think any first person shooter is playable with a controller*.

However there are many who would disagree with me.

*On realistic difficulty, with hitboxes that aren't the size of houses and player controlled characters who can't absorb a magazine's worth of ammunition.

^^This^^

I use an Xbox Pad for flying only, as it allows me to turn my head and zoom in while having complete control of the aircraft I am flying. Very useful for keeping an eye on enemy units while manoeuvring.

I think you'll be limited with what you can do with the default controller rebinding. I went with Xpadder ($10) and use a preset ExistentialEgg (google it) made. I had to change a few things such as cycle throwables and add a walk command but it has treated me really well. I only use the keyboard now to command my AI. Every single other action can be done with the controller and the controller alone. Evidence? All 630+ hours have been played this way by me and I even belong to a slightly casual milsim group.

Controller is good for flying choppers and vehicles, other than that i wouldn't use one.

I only wanted to use a controller for hellis and jets, actually thinking about just getting a joystick for those. Slowly getting used to the KB&M.
