5600X vs 5800X3D - And different memory allocators too!
Hi All,

Ive been playing Arma 3 since Alpha and have edited several missions and been involved with the development of several servers and missions - including DP Wasteland back in the day.

As such, ive spent A LOT of time trying to get good performance in the game. Ive played on many CPUS from a FX8120 and 2600k upto now a 5800X3D.

Recently I swapped from the 5600X to the 5800X3D. This is BY FAR the biggest upgrade so I just wanted to add in some numbers from YAAB for anyone that ends up googling this very topic.

CPU - See test
GPU - RX6800XT @2720mhz / 2050mhz memory with fast timings
RAM - 32GB 3600MHZ Corsair Vengeance RGB @ 16-18-18-36
SSD - NVME GEN3 Sabrent Rocket

Paras:

Extra threads, File operations, texture loading, geometry loading - ON
HT: On
Allocator - mimalloc-v207-lock-pages (unless otherwise stated)
Large Page - On
Limit - 32GB
V Limit - 8GB

Clarifying that the above tests are Mimalloc-v207-lock-pages. Ill test again with 2025 version but im now on a 6900XT so not a true apples to applies.
I agree, I went from an 8700k to a 5800x3d when it released and the difference is quite amazing.

A friend of mine went with the 7800x3d and it's even better.
