Can i change workshop file location?
I want to install game on SSD, but it can only carry the game, not the mods. Is it possible or do i simply have to download manually every mod?

Go through the launcher options. Pretty sure you can move the mod folder elsewhere.

You are right, thanks!

Sorry, this cannot be changed. It is how Steam works, i.e. it downloads MODs to the library location where the game is installed. Trying to move that location can cause Steam to stop working and cause other unintended problems.

Yeah, i notice it did move just some mods. But hey, at least it did free up 4 GB, so thats at least something.

You can use the manual install of MODs to get around some of the issue and you seem to be competent enough to do that ;-)

The CUP MODs and RHS are probably the largest collections that are likely to be used and can be manually installed easily so are good candidates.

There are also some pretty good advantages to managing the updates yourself, f.e. it was the only way that I was able to have MODs available for the 1.54 Legacy Ports when they were released (that's the current MacOS/Linux builds) as I had them stowed away on an external HDD. You can't do versioning with Steam.

There are other ways to manage it as well using OS filesystem level tools, but requires a good knowledge of what you're doing, especially since there is a known Windows 10 bug you have to work around and the fact that Steam may stop working if you get it wrong.

TL;DR:
You can work around the issue with OS tools but it is easier to manually install any large MODs elsewher yourself than to start a fight with the Steam client.

Yeah, im going to take the easier route and just unsubscribe on larger mods and download them manually, but thanks for the tip, appreciate it!

Before you unsubscribe...copy them elsewhere for now. Save you the download time for the entire mod again.

Edit: If you can do that of course....

Yes, forgot about that!

In the launcher you can use the '...' buton under a MOD and Copy as Local or some such and have it copy the MOD to your chosen location. Much easier than redownload and possibly quicker ;-)

Then just unbsub the Steam copy.

I stopped using workshop when it "randomly" downloaded files on another computer for a game that wasn't even installed.

Disappointed I was.

I recently tried grabbing some mission files off it with the intention of moving them and unsubbing. Problem was the files came down as .bin and not .pbo so, I dunno if there has been some encryption put in place since I last did this because...it was possible...once.

Edit:...or I looked in the wrong place ;D
