Nights in Arma 2 were pitch black aswell, but could be tweaked with gamma and brightness.
Thank you. This guy is complaining that the night is dark (and full of terrors.. sorry)
It's like complaining you can't swim without getting wet.
Now either go get a flashlight or NV's.
I was recently playing one where the NV wouldn't even penetrate the darkness. It was pretty rough
Why do you people use the term "real life"? This is a game. A simulator that is, but in the end a game. We play this game for our own enjoyment. Not to simulate reallife, doing that most of my day already by working, doing stuff in the house, whatever.
I for one hate it that gamma no longer works, it sucks donkeyballs.
I venture that we do play it to "simulate real life." Hence the term simulator.
People want these things as authentic as can be in a simulated virtual environment. That's just the way it is, and most of us know that Is what's meant in the essence when "real life " is a term used.
And unless your work day consisted of rolling round at night like a tooled up Valhalla Bada$$ visiting pain and suffering on various armed scum bags....... then this is probably ok to simulate for you.........
Not entirely sure what the term "you people" means... I guess you're too cerebral or living so relentlessly in real life to willingly suspend your disbelief for the enjoyment of a game...
It was around eleven on a June night with a one-quarter Moon, and there was light enough to cycle by, although the shadows were inky black. I was impressed by the lushness of the nightscape--the Moon even casts shadows that shift as it moves across the sky. It looked very realistic to me and reminded me a lot of the nighttime marches I did when I was in the real army.
In subsequent versions of this mission, I actually fought in darkened hallways and rooftops using only the light lent by a few distant streetlights and the Moon. Arma3's muzzle flashes are something else--especially when you're surprised in the dark by the sudden appearance of an enemy. (He missed. I didn't. But boy, does it get the heart going.)
Of course, if you make it overcast, make it January, and make the Moon new, it will most definitely be Black-Forest dark at midnight. If you're going to eschew NV under such conditions, I recommend you remove NV from the other units and remember to include Mr. Sanchez's headlamps and lots of chemlights in your loadout.
If, on the other hand, you want enjoyable night action without NV, I suggest you adjust your scenario to make sure the Moon is full and the sky is clear. It makes a huge difference. A full Moon is actually bright enough to read by, if the print is not too small.
Yes, Arma3 is a game. But its reputation is built on it being a reasonably realistic simulator, not an interactive movie like COD. Some police tactical teams even use it for training.
Morale of the story, NVG's gives the person wearing them to see in the dark, Kinda.... your depth perception is gonna be off but then again its better than stumbling around with nothing. Arma gets the lighting just right especially with Ace 3. When its light out you can see everything, when its dark out... well put on your NODs or turn on a flash light at your own risk of getting shot at.....
Now, once you get into a thick forest that's a different story. Just like sunlight, trees shade you from starlight and it can be pitch black.
