Eden Editor Transport Heli
What is the best way to have a transport heli that would stay at base on heli pad until called to a custom/any location on the map and have it take you to a custom/any selected point on the map?

I played a downloaded scenario that has almost like a virtual transport heli, once you where in you would open the map via the scroll wheel, select landing point (AI Behavior would search for a landing pad, if none found it would just land in an open area), after landing and troops uloaded, it would go back to base and await further instruction.

How could I accomplish this? I have a baseline knowledge of editing, pretty familiar with most of the stuff however I haven't gotten into scripting or anything quite yet.

Thank you in advance!!

Working on this... It's just taking a minute to refresh my memory in the use of the Support Requester / Provider: Transport modules, but these should give you the functionality you require.

Okay turns out to be easier than I remembered. All you need to do is:
  1. Place down a Support Requestor module from Systems > Modules > Supports > Support Requestor
  2. Place down a Support Provider: Helicopter Transport
    • Select either module and sync them to each other
  3. Place down your transport helicopters
    • Sync each individual helo to the Support Provider module
  4. Place down your player/playable units
    • Sync any units that are allowed to request transport to the Support Requestor module
Hit the Play Scenario button and test out your work. To call a transport, look at where you want the LZ to be and hit '0', '8', '1' keys in order and then select the particular transport helo you require. You will get a radio confirmation of the dispatch order.

Once in the helo, bring up your map and select the transport destination with a single r-click.

Once landed the helo will RTB when you exit.

Repeat the requests as and when needed.

I know this is an old thread, but what if I want the support to become available after specific conditions are met (a cache has been destroyed or something)? A simple trigger synced with the modules won't do it.

Rumpus, sync it to a trigger and set it to radio alpha, bravo, etc
You can setup a deny flight message if they have not completed the mission.

Ah thanks. I really can't remember how I fixed this (if I even got it working at all), but still thanks, now I know how to do it properly in case I need to do this again :steamhappy:

Sync a trigger to a trigger ;)

I just went thru a bunch of scripting *that didn't work!* then I found this abt the modules.. thanks.. however, is there a way to make them ignore the helipads & possible land on smoke?

Make script that spawns helipad on smoke location ;)

it sounds easy, but Im not good at creating custom scripts. I wouldn't know how to attach it to the smoke.. I had a hard enough time getting the heli to respond to the smoke & i followed a script

ALIVE
ALIVE is not in my mission, Im working with a specific set of mods..I'm not sure what u mean anyway. Is it a function in ALIVE

Just use the mod ALIVE and its combat support modules. It will do all that for you.

You dont need alive for this, its got a vanilla module like porter says (also supply drops, arty and air strikes). For me the transport dosent use helipads, it just lands as close to me as it can wether thats in a road or the middle of a field :)

I have scripts to link the support request module to players because JIP's wont get those supports, however, join in progress players get access to ALiVE supports, something to think about if you dont know how to script.

I like the Alive combat support modules far better than the vanilla ones.
