Arma 3
Petition for Imperial Assault
This is a petition to the Imperial Assault mod team,Blue Harvest Interactive. the purpose of this petition is to try to convince them to restart the Imperial Assault Mod. i know why they cancelled the mod, but there are so many star wars mods out there what can disney possibly do. there is a star wars battlefront being created by a freelance group, you might have heard of it star wars battlefront galaxy in turnmoil. it uses the star wars name and the title battlefront and as far as i am aware they did not ask for permission from ea,disney or lucas arts. so if they can create entire game why cant we get a full star wars mod for arma 3, is that so hard to ask. so either vote +1 for yes or -1 for no simple as that. i will show them the petition anywhere that Blue Harvest Interactive has any activity including steam, facebook, twitter and etc etc.

Some basic ground rules for this thread

1. if you are going to debate or argue i ask that you show respect for other peoples opinion on the matter. thank you

so lets begin with my vote

1+

If you are only for votes, then go on a petition site and make a petition and post the link here.

You can't force a "no debate" rule on a discussion forum...

Also it won't happen, Disney is an ass when it comes to such things - why should Blue Harvest risk it for a free mod?

So my vote:
-1

i should have really put more thought into the rules. i dont mind if you argue or debate i just ask that you be respectful of other peoples opinion on the matter. but regardless thank you for the vote

Disney owns the IP and has many and scary lawyers. The law is also on their side.

Petitions are of little help in this instance, only avenue to having this become a reality is money and lots of it!

we have to start somewhere do we not? or diseny will walk all over us star wars fans, and that is something that we as a community should not allow to happen

We already have allowed Disney to walk all over us, repeatedly! Politicians don't elect themselves, and laws don't change to reflect 'corporate' needs by accident. Unless you have some way to reduce the power of corporate interestes in our western democracies, then we're screwed before we start!

TL;DR:
There will NEVER be a SW mod for ArmA 3 that isn't officially licensed, and noone in the modding community is going to put themselves forward as the test case to prove it. As I've said, Disney has scary lawyers and the law is on their side (after all, they paid for the laws they are relying on here).

[OFC this doesn't mean that an underground mod couldn't be created, but that would require a very fluid enviroment for its development and would always be in a chaotic state. Disney is motivated when it comes to protecting its revenue streams!]

-1.

Strawman argument below:
Just because people continue to murder others and get away with it, doesn't make it any more legal and right to do.

TL;DR respect IP rights.

you guys/girls have a very valid point and i respect that, i also respect disneys rights but another one of my points is that there are lots of star wars mods out there and some have actually taken content from the new battlefront and made models based on diseny's movies/shows and yet disney has not done anything to them, and there are companies making freelance games that could actually harm diseny sails but not only that they actually use there titles like star wars battlefront galaxy in turnmoil. so i guess my point is that if diseny acutally cared they would have started sueing people but yet they havent. it is possible that i have not heard of such a cases. either way this thread will remain for people to vote and of course express there opinions.

i would also like to add that i do not speak for any mod team or freelance game company i am just stating what i know and my opinion.

There's nothing stopping Disney from taking legal action AFTER the modders release all their hard work. All of it gone to waste.
MercReign 5/mai./2016 às 18:31
Forgive me if I'm a dunce but as long as they make no profit from it, doesn't that mean Disney has no grounds for argument in the matter? Like I said, I could be wrong but it's created freely and there's no profit gained from releasing it. Once again, forgive me if I'm retarded and missed the fine print.
Xorberax 5/mai./2016 às 19:01
If you personally create a game called GTA V and make no profit from it, that doesn't mean Rockstar won't sue you.
SeraphinicIna 5/mai./2016 às 19:06
Just because you don't make profit with something, doesn't mean that you are allowed to use a trademark and publish something based on it without having the permission to do so.
For Chaos! 6/mai./2016 às 12:47
Modders and people like that use stuff all the time without permission usually i would say its wrong but since there not making a profit off of it, i dont see anything wrong with it. i honestly dont care who create a star wars arma 3 mod, i just want there to be one, and because the mod team will most likely be doing this for free i dont see how disney or lucas arts can even have grounds to sue. the whole thing with the fan made star trek show was that the team making it was getting money at least that it is my understanding of the situation, and there for that is why they got sued. but if a mod team creates something and there is no profit companies will most likely not care and just let it be. because if they didnt leave it be then every mod with star wars content would have to be taken down and there creators sued.
SeraphinicIna 6/mai./2016 às 12:59
Then learn how to mod and create a SW mod on your own. You could even ask Blue Harvest for the assets...

If you still don't like it how Disney handles this, contact them.
For Chaos! 6/mai./2016 às 14:01
i had planned on contacting disney and lucas arts, but that would most likely end in a brick wall.

There are mods that are Star Wars Based that exist, including one for Arma 2 I had recently downloaded to just check out. Another that comes to mind if Galactic Warfare for COD4, but that was prior to Disney's acquisition of the franchise. Point is, there are mods that exist and either no legal action has been taken or has been kept silent. How about people who dress up or create their own Star Wars uniforms for cosplay and take pictures to post on the web? OR the fan videos that have been posted to YouTube (Which were posted after the Acquisition)?

Again, maybe I'm being dense but while my examples are not the EXACT same thing as creating a mod, it still falls within the limits of the same issues. Someone is using their property to create something and publish it yet there it is, still available for view or download.
