You want to move around and kill infanterists with most likely low armor?
go for the SPAR-16S
You want an LMG with high ammo capacity you can still carry on long patrols?
go for the Mk200
You're not moving much and want to score a high body count?
go for the Zafir
You wanna take out small vehicles or keep distance to your enemy?
go for the NAVID

There you go.

SPMG is the best all-rounder after the Zafir, but yes, the ammunition + gun are heavy as f*ck. Don't plan on going anywhere (or anywhere fast) with enough ammo to hose down waves of soldiers. Just use the Zafir or Mk200 since you're playing KoTH. ARCO, MOS or DMS scopes recommended.

I'd agree with the general concensus here: the MK200 is probably the "best" in that it has the most strengths and least/most mitigated weaknesses. For example against the Zafir it's lighter and carries more ammo in each magazine(each of which is lighter) but even though it doesn't have the power of the Zafir the 6.5 ammunition is still able to perform well enough that this weakness doens't overshadow its strengh of weight. There's something to be said for picking a different "best" LMG/MMG for mostly stationary work but in my experience you're ALWAYS going to be moving at some point so it'd be best to pick the LMG/MMG that is best for mobility whose other performance qualities are not much lower than any other weapon of a similar nature. So in so many words, I'd say the MK200 is overall your best choice.

The 9.3 MMG is actually better than the SPMG due to basically being identical except with more power per bullet..

And who gives a crap about fatigue in the context of a KOTH game when the MMGs give you one shot kills and the ability to ignore everything short of the walls of military bunkers. All you are losing out on is the ability to sprint, and even then only if you have been sprinting around already.

Winning a firefight despite shooting second is a pretty big advantage, never mind things like fleeting shots, all it takes is a single hit where as the other MGs will need 3+, or the ability to just mindlessly spray a building that you think a guy is in.

If fatigue was more meaningful then it would be more of a choice, but as it is right now if you choose anything other than one of the MMGs you are objectively making the wrong choice.

Everyone in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ response stop being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ respond. If you dumb asses had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem responding to this guy's post then don't respond at all. If anything, if you do know. Tell him. And don't be a ♥♥♥♥. Otherwise. You don't deserve ♥♥♥♥. Not even the game. So gtfo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Personally I was searching for the same thing. Can't find it either man.

Nobody knows..:).......Some people swear that 'X 'is best, but others say "No, 'Y' is best", so it's largely a matter of personal preferences....Test each one out in the editor til you find one you like with good sights, good rate of fire, comfortable recoil, large capacity mags, and good penetration against light armour targets....PS- larger calibres and larger guns usually hit harder, for example the big 9.3mm Navid LMG can bring down enemy chopper gunships if you empty long full-mag bursts into them, I've done it..:)

Really people do know, and it's the GPMGs. Don't mean to sound like an ass but it's only idiots who say anything else is better, like temporary who necroed the post.

Simple fact is that because ARMA doesn't simulate everything from weight and length to recoil beyond almost meaningless abstraction and health in this game is simple hitpoints, the only things that really matter about guns in this game are thier accuracy, hitting power, ROF, penetration and capacity, and the GPMGs being purposefully overpowered to coerce people into buying the DLCs for them are simply the best in all of these categories (with the 9.3 being the better of the two).

I've got over 3,000 hours spent on both modding and playing the game. I've read the relevant configs for the weapons, the magazines, and the ammunition that we're discussing. Bert Sampsen here speaks the truth. Everybody worth their salt knows that the SPMG and Navid are the most potent of the bunch by far thanks to "balancing" done on Bohemia's end to help motivate the purchase of the Marksman DLC.

In reality, .338 Norma Magnum and 9.3x64mm Brenneke are rather heavy cartridges. The SPMG and Navid would be much heavier loaded than they are in Arma - and would be very difficult to use in any offensive tactics. The base game stamina and sway models are also quite forgiving and reward "spray and pray" tactics that the Navid especially excels at. The stuff you see in KOTH just doesn't fly under the rules of an ACE3 Stamina equipped server.

Regarding accuracy, SMG's and LMG's are notoriously innaccurate if fired while kneeling or standing because their recoil jumps them about, so that's another thing we need to take into account to find one that's not so jumpy.....I've tried EVERY SMG and LMG in KOTH EU#1 1944 and my favourite by far is the Russian PPsH SMG because its rate of fire is phenomenal AND its recoil is quite manageable.....TIP- take the MGR perk with it and you'll get big 71-round drum mags to lay down a prolonged hailstorm of fire with sustained bursts that nothing can live through..:)

SPMG for mid-long range due to its lower rate of fire but navid for short to mid as it seems less suited to long range in my experiance

The SPMG is the better wallbanger, but if you know how to walk shots in then the Navid hits harder and one-shots infantry more reliably at any distance.

ANY type of LMG or SMG can shred infantry, softskins, transport choppers etc, so choice is not too critical, but if you want to hurt light armour and chopper gunships too, a heavier LMG is called for, so I'd plump for something like the big 9.3 Navid........PS- a downside of lugging a big LMG around is that you might not be able to carry a rocket launcher too, choices, choices......PS again- if an armoured car comes along, you can try shooting out its vulnerable tyres first with whatever LMG/SMG you're carrying if you like.
